It’s time for a new pastry trendsetter to take the throne, AKA The Twisted Trio.
Helmed by three pastry chefs, this new hit has taken a spot in our hearts with not only their IG-worthy, dainty cakes but with, as subtly promised, a twist.
Holding your judgement? Don’t worry you, Masterchef-trained foodie, we’ve got the case ready and laid out for thy food jury.
The Twisted Trio
Located at an HDB block in Toa Payoh, this little-known gem of a cafe opened in March 2020 and sells beautifully baked pastries.
All the desserts are freshly-baked, with usual hot-sellers and highlights of the day.
Not sure what to prepare your sweet tooth for? Head to their Telegram Channel here for a quick peek before heading down.
What To Expect
Take a step in and you’ll be welcomed by an array of desserts including their Orange Yogurt cake and Blue Pea Passionfruit Cake to Earl Grey Mixed Berries Loaf and Dark & Milk Chocolate Brownies.
But we have chosen three highlights for a quick low-down on our must-check out picks.
Top 3 Picks
Firstly, we have the Matcha Burnt Cheesecake.
This is a unique type of cheesecake atypical to the ones you are usually accustomed to. This aptly named cake is the sort that wants to get burnt and is deliberately baked to have a soft and creamy centre.
Through this process, as the protein has yet to set, the heat and steam escape leaving the cake sinking in the centre.
Take a look at this beautiful Matcha Burnt Cheesecake. Smooth curve indicating the beautiful sink? Check. Classic burnt top layer? Check. A luxurious, soft and custardy treat for the perfect Sunday? Double and triple check.
Next up for the pastry jury is the Watermelon Rose Cake.
This lovely cake features a slice of watermelon hidden between layers of light rose chantilly creams and moist sponge cake.
Plus, its light, floral notes are sure to have you smiling from ear to ear.
And of course, we have saved the best for last—the ‘Chaota’ Cheesecake also known as the Basque Burnt Cheesecake.
Similar to the Matcha Burnt Cheesecake, it follows the tradition of creating the burnt, caramelised top and edges as well as a soft melt-in-your-mouth centre.
This trending to-die-for cheesecake is definitely our must-try of the day.
Open to takeaways and dine-ins, head over to this hole-in-the-wall for the delicious pastries we can’t help but feel Gordon Ramsey would definitely approve of.
