TOC Uploads a Video Whereby a Guy Claimed That He Was Abused by Police Officers in Cantonment Police Station

If this sounds like a deja vu, here’s a brief context on the beef between The Online Citizen (TOC) and the Singapore Police Force (SPF).

A month ago, someone posted an Instagram story, claiming that several police officers were bullying an elderly for not wearing a mask. The incident was POFMA-ed but TOC interviewed the elderly instead, who gave a different account of what happened.

Soon after, SPF released footage from an officer’s bodycam to show that the officers were, indeed, telling the truth, while the elderly could’ve remembered the wrong account as she has dementia.

Just as you think that this saga will end, today happened.

TOC Publishes a Video Whereby a Guy Alleged That He Was Abused by Police Officers in Cantonment Police Station

TOC published a video Facebook and YouTube with a headline that’ll sure to garner lots of views: “Who will police the police?”: asks man who allegedly suffered abuse at Cantonment Police Station

Suffice to say, the 28-minute video is going to start the second season of TOC vs SPF.

The incident allegedly took place on 14 February 2020, and the man was caught in a roadblock whereby he failed his breathalyzer test. He was then taken to Cantonment Police Station, and that was when shit hit the fan.

Allegedly, of course.

He said that he did another breathalyzer test in the station and passed the test, but was still taken to a cell. He then claimed that he was claustrophobia and did not want to be in a cell, so a medical officer attended to him.

But soon after, he was still taken to a cell despite his pleas, and the officers allegedly violently abused him into the cell. He then claimed that he had to pee in the cell.

After his release, he then proceeded to make his complaints, calling the police, his MP and even the Home Affairs Ministry.

The authorities investigated and responded, saying that the man was placed in the cell for his security and safety. They had received their request to go to the toilet but when they came to escort him, he was “observed to be sleeping”.

The man felt unjust, and he claimed that he has approached the mainstream media, but they allegedly did not want to publish his story or did not respond to him.
