Luck may be fleeting.
But it appears that some have it in bountiful quantities.
According to Singapore Pools, a certain individual has become a millionaire overnight…
When he swept the Group 1 TOTO prize of over $5.2 million on Monday (21 December 2020), single-handedly.
A Single Person Won $5.2 Million TOTO Prize on 21 Dec; Ticket Bought from Punggol Giant Outlet
And apparently, that golden ticket was actually a QuickPick Ordinary Bet.
My condolences to all the other ‘complicated’ bets – which involved a higher stake but entailed worse-off results in this case.
As for the location, the winning lottery ticket was purchased from Giant at Edgefield Plains.
It’s supposedly the first time a Group 1 Prize has been won in the outlet, since 2014.
This means that the winner didn’t just sweep the grand prize; they actually broke a 6-year stalemate while doing so.
Whoever they are, they sure have earned the favour of Lady Luck this pandemic-struck year.
Interestingly, both individuals who walked away with the Group 2 Prize in the Monday (21 December) draw actually purchased QuickPick Ordinary Entry Tickets as well.
They will each become $284,571 richer overnight.
Has It Become A ‘Huat’ Outlet?
You know the drill.
When an outlet spawns a golden winning ticket, it automatically becomes a gambler’s tourist destination.
And yet, is that truly the case?
After all, the average Secondary School mathematician will be able to tell you that as far as probability is concerned, the success rate at this outlet is still considerably low.
A golden ticket per month may be extraordinary, but one in six years? Not quite.
And let’s not even talk about the whole “Lightning strikes in the same place twice” notion.
It’s certainly a plausible notion, but that would entail even greater luck than the phenomenon which enabled the win in the first place.
But hey, you’re still welcome to try if you wish. The outlet’s located at Blk 671 Edgefield Plains #02-01.
Not The First Solo Win This Year
Lest you’re unaware, the title of the largest win of 2020 still belongs to the winner of the Chinese New Year jackpot – a staggering $12 million, which went into the pocket of a single individual.
Apparently, the winning ticket, too, was a quick pick Ordinary Bet.
According to Singapore Pools, the winner purchased the ticket at the NTUC FairPrice outlet at Bukit Batok MRT.
Well, I guess we all know what to do this coming CNY draw.
Time to comb the grounds for 4 leaf clovers, of course.
