For a while, aspiring punters couldn’t help but sigh in exasperation.
Can’t exactly blame them either.
Back in May, Singapore Pools had made a slight amendment to its rules.

Instead of the conventional method, the top prize amount was allowed to snowball to the second draw only.
If nobody won by the second time, the stacked jackpot amount will be divided between the second-prize winners.
Great for the runner-ups; not so great for punters who want to strike it big in one shot.
But considering the circumstances and the tightened COVID-19 measures at the time, it was an entirely understandable move.
Toto Prize Pool Allowed To Snowball For 4 Consecutive Draws Again
Now that the nation has eased its measures, however, Singapore Pools has, too, restored its system to its previous state.
Now, the top prize money will be allowed to snowball over up to four consecutive draws.
The move was implemented from 2 September 2021 onwards.
“This is part of Singapore Pools’ resumption of normal business operations, in line with Singapore’s easing of measures,” a spokesman said.

To prohibit any accidental clusters, however, strict safe management measures will continue to be applied at all relevant sites.
Apart from enhanced cleaning and safe distancing measures, there will also be assistants on the ground to conduct checks.
Meanwhile, the current TOTO jackpot has already snowballed once: there was no group one winner on 16 September 2021.
As such, the accumulated prize of S$1,124,075 has been carried forward to the next draw, which will occur on 20 September 2021.
The next jackpot is currently at S$2,400,000.

All the best, punters. But make sure to stay safe.
Measures
It should be noted that Singapore Pools has a tendency to incorporate necessary measures wherever needed.
In June 2020, the company suspended lottery draws during phase two of the post-circuit breaker period.
And in February 2021, it slashed the jackpot for the yearly Toto Hongbao draw to S$8 million, down from S$12 million.
Due to accumulation, however, the top prize still reached S$11,930,891.

Five lucky winners ended up walking away as millionaires, having struck the Group 1 prize. Each of them walked away with S$2,386,178.
Yet even so, they still fail to hold a candle to the sole winner of 2020’s Toto Hongbao draw.
The winner ended up sweeping all S$12,000,000 of the prize pool.
