Foreign tourists from ASEAN countries can now register for the Touch ‘n Go (TNG) eWallet, allowing them to make cashless payments via QR code at merchants across Malaysia.
The service has been made available to visitors from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, TNG Digital announced on 8 May 2025.
Tourists can now top up their TNG eWallet balance using credit or debit cards issued by banks in their home countries.

A key feature of this initiative is that tourists are not required to use a Malaysian phone number for registration. Verification codes will be sent via WhatsApp instead, making the process more accessible for international visitors.
TNG Digital stated that this move is particularly beneficial for local businesses, especially hawkers and small vendors who typically do not accept card payments.
Expanding Beyond ASEAN
The eWallet operator has also announced plans to expand this service to non-ASEAN markets soon, including China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and more.
“As travellers ourselves, we understand how important it is to feel confident and connected when exploring a new place,” said Alan Ni, CEO of TNG Digital.
Wide Acceptance Across Malaysia
Today, TNG eWallet is accepted by over 2 million merchants and is compatible with DuitNow QR under PayNet’s network, which has more than 2.5 million merchant touchpoints nationwide.
The initiative supports Malaysia’s preparations for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 and aims to boost spending at various levels of the economy by offering a secure digital payment option.
