Two Chain Collisions on TPE and PIE Within Hours; 11 Vehicles Involved, Four Sent to Hospital

Two chain collisions occurred within about 2.5 hours on Saturday (28 Jun) along major Singapore expressways.

The accidents involved 11 vehicles in total. Four people were sent to the hospital.

TPE Chain Collision Blocks Three Lanes, Two Women Hospitalised

The first accident happened on the Tampines Expressway (TPE) towards the Pan-Island Expressway direction at about 3:30pm on 28 Jun.

Six cars crashed into one another in lane two of the expressway. Video footage from SG Road Vigilante showed the vehicles lined up neatly in a row with debris scattered on the road.

The Land Transport Authority warned motorists about the accident at 3:44pm. Traffic congestion extended to the entrance from the Seletar Expressway at 4:16pm.

Authorities advised drivers to avoid lanes one, two and three.

Two female passengers were injured in the TPE collision. A 33-year-old woman was conveyed to Changi General Hospital. A 59-year-old woman was taken to Sengkang General Hospital.

Both women were conveyed in a conscious state. The Singapore Civil Defence Force responded to the scene at about 3:35pm.

PIE Accident Involves Motorcycle, Three People Injured

The second chain collision occurred on the PIE towards Changi Airport at 6pm on the same day.

Four cars and one motorcycle were involved in this accident. Video footage showed at least three cars lined up in the far-right lane after colliding.

A motorcycle lay on its side next to the damaged cars. A man was seen lying on the road receiving treatment from paramedics.

Emergency vehicles surrounded the accident scene. These included a police car, police motorcycle, ambulance and an Expressway Monitoring and Advisory System recovery truck.

The accident caused congestion that extended to the Kallang Way exit by 6:20pm. Motorists were advised to avoid lanes one and two.

A 25-year-old female car driver and 25-year-old male motorcyclist were sent to Changi General Hospital in a conscious condition.

One additional person was assessed for minor injuries but declined hospital transport.

Police investigations into both accidents are ongoing.
