By End-Dec, Almost Every Place You Go Would Require the TraceTogether App or Token

You know, TraceTogether isn’t compulsory—you don’t need it if you stay in your house for the rest of 2020.

But if you’re a normal human being who needs to head to work daily, or to buy your food from a shopping mall, then you still need to download and use TraceTogether—though it’s still not compulsory for you.

By End-Dec, Almost Every Place You Go Would Require TraceTogether App or Token

This morning, we got to know that from 26 October 2020, we’d need to have a TraceTogether app or token to watch a movie.

Less than half a day later, we now know that the cinemas are just the beginning: soon, you’d need the app or token to enter almost any place, including your workplace or a shopping mall.

MOH said that the active use of SafeEntry has significantly improved their ability to detect COVID-19 clusters quickly. At the same time, they need greater participation in the TraceTogether Programme to help them quickly identify close contacts of COVID-positive cases.

These digital tools are critical for quickly ringfencing any cases that emerge as a result of larger group sizes and larger-scale activities. Without these tools, there may have multiple generations of spread and large clusters forming, and days of single-digit daily community cases might be part of history (again).

Therefore, there’s a need for a higher take-up rate for TraceTogether before Phase Three starts.

Lest you’re not aware, we can have social gatherings of up to 8 people in Phrase 3, but KTV studios and nightclubs still cannot open lah.

The number to target? 70% of the population to be in the programme. Currently, we’re only at 45%.

But things might change soon.

MOH will progressively roll out TraceTogether-only SafeEntry to workplaces, schools, and more public venues, including cinemas, live performances, shopping malls, and F&B outlets.

In this case, you are required to check in to SafeEntry through either scanning the QR code using the TraceTogether App on your phone, or by presenting your TraceTogether Token to be scanned.

I bet all my assets that 70% can be achieved fastly.

Where to Collect Your TraceTogether Tokens

If you’re reading this on your phone, then you probably won’t need the token.

But if you’re reading this on your laptop and your Nokia 3310 just rang, then you’d need to collect your tokens ASAP, if not you’d miss out on some good deals that we publish here.

And it doesn’t matter how old you are; if you need a TraceTogether token because you don’t want an extra app in your Nokia 3310, you can head down to 100 locations islandwide (not all are open yet) to collect one as long as you’re above 7 years old.

This includes pass holders as well. All you need to do is to bring your ID along.

You can go to https://token.gowhere.gov.sg/ to check out where’s the nearest place you can collect your token. At the time of writing, there are 26 areas for you to collect the token (areas with more elderly would be open first).
