Recently, there has been a real thirst for all things transparent: milk tea, lemon tea, beer, underwear, etc. etc.
And the transparent coke’s no different. In fact, people positively dig it.
But there’s just one slight drawback:
It was only available in Japan.
Yeah, you didn’t read wrong. It WAS only available in Japan. Until good old 7-11 delivered some good news to our doorstep.
Heading to Singapore shores
While there’s no clear importation date indicated, one thing’s clear.
It will hit the shelves of all 7-11 stores in the near future.
And damn if I’m not excited, seeing how the transparent coke is so… well… transparent.
First released on 11 June in Japan, the drink promised something different from your usual Coca-Cola fare, as well as a hint of lemon.
Taste
According to reviews, the transparent Coca-Cola tastes just like the original, except with an acquired lemony aftertaste.
And video reviews weren’t adverse either.
And this particular reviewer had an interesting way of describing how Coca-Cola tastes like.
LOL.
50 recipes
According to Kotaku, Coca-Cola actually tested over 50 recipes in its bid to create an all-new clear version of its popular drink, which is made without the signature caramel ingredient but just a splash of lemon and some slight formula tinkering. Health addicts will be overjoyed to know that the drink comes at zero calories too.
Yup, the taste of authentic cola (according to reviews) with none of the cost.
That’s like saying you can eat salted egg-buttermilk chicken rice and not get fat.
That’s every gym buff’s dream come true, at least according to Goody Feed’s resident fit guy.
#healthyliving
It’s not in 7-Eleven stores. Yet. But you can sure as hell expect to hit the stores soon.
But it’s actually available for delivery in Singapore
Surprise, surprise. Yup, this clear coca-cola has actually landed on the shores of Singapore for a couple of days.
It’s available for delivery via Redmart and Honestbee.
And since we’re on the topic of hipster food (you got to admit, transparent coke is hipster AF), let’s talk about another hipster food that landed in a well-known brand in Singapore.
Salted Egg Yolk Fried Chicken From KFC
My colleague, yeah, that fit guy up there, was complaining about how KFC Singapore didn’t have any cool food.
And he specifically said that if KFC ever brought in the salted egg chicken that’s available overseas, he’d forgo all his #fitnessgoals and eat KFC every day.
Well, KFC must’ve fortune tellers working for them because they seemed to have heard his prayers.
Introducing…the chicken that will revolutionise the chicken industry in Singapore…*ominous background music*
…The chicken that will elevate your taste buds to the highest level and make you forget all about other chickens in Singapore…*dramatic swoosh*
The Goldspice chicken
A combination of salted egg, sweet basil and spicy curry leaves, it’s supposed to be “better than Gold”, though we highly doubt that if you have it daily, you’ll get a Gold for IPPT.
And we liked it so much we wrote a review about it.
Now you know what Singaporeans are talking about today; do check back tomorrow for another piece of news of the day!
