Always fancied using your incredible ‘eye power’ prowess for the greater good? Or to be more specific…
For a rather pleasant salary?
Well, this could be your chance to step up.
The tray return industry is now recruiting ambassadors…
And apparently, you can earn up to $2,500.
You Can Be a Tray Return Ambassador in Hawker Centres & Earn Up to $2,500 a Month
There’s a new job listing in town, and this one’s admittedly rather relevant:
The vocation of a tray return ambassador.
Apparently, it’s quite generous with its salary too, considering how it will be dispensing as much as $2,500 for a month’s work.
To put it into perspective, some entry-level positions only give around $1,800 to $2,200.
But before you submit your resignation letter and jump on the bandwagon, here’s an ultimatum:
It may not entirely be what you perceive.
It’s Not That Easy
So we took a look at the exact job listing in question, and let’s just say that it’s not a simple walk in the park.
For starters, you’ll have certain goals to work towards, one of which is the adoption rate of tray return.
Also, you’ll have to come up with promotional activities to encourage patrons, conduct outreach sharing sessions for stallholders and carry out other assigned tasks.
You would also need good communication skills, a pleasant attitude and, rather unfortunately, contend with the possibility of working on weekends and public holidays.
All of a sudden, the offer does not seem so enticing anymore.
You can view the job listing down below.
Over on Reddit, Netizens have crowded around to discuss about this latest phenomenon.
Consensus? Mixed.
Some, as you may have expected, were all ears, or in this case eyes, for this job position.
Others wondered why these ambassadors are being paid more than the actual cleaners on-site.
Several calculated a possible risk component: the plausibility of being beaten up.
One also conjured a pun that’s simply too good to not be included in this piece:
“Missed opportunity to call them the TraysTogether Ambassadors.”
Not The Only One
For the record, this job listing isn’t exactly the only one of its kind here.
In fact, there were other listings that involved similar roles, though the pay was more fluctuant.
For instance, this particular listing only pays S$1,400 to S$2,200. Still high, but low compared to the above.
Don’t say bojio ah.
