Trump Finally Admitted That Biden Won But Claimed It Was Rigged

If Manchester United beat Arsenal 306-232 in a record-breaking game of football and an Arsenal fan said they didn’t actually lose, you’d be seriously concerned for this person.

Similarly, after losing the presidency by the same margin to president-elect Joe Biden, Donald Trump has refused to admit defeat.

But instead of gently patting his head and saying “It’s ok to lose sometimes, Don Don”, his supporters have been taking to the streets and echoing his baseless claims of voter fraud.

Refusing to concede, Trump has filed lawsuits in several states, either for voter fraud or for the false claim that Republican poll watchers weren’t allowed to watch the voting process (they were).

Now, it seems that reality has finally made its way to Trump’s brain, as he’s acknowledged the outcome.

Well, kind of.

Trump Finally Admitted That Biden Won But Claimed It Was Rigged

In typical Trump fashion, the president on Sunday (15 Nov) admitted in a tweet that Biden won the presidency but claimed the election was rigged.

His tweet was in response to a Jesse Watters segment on Fox News, in which he said Biden didn’t “earn” the presidency.

Trump also claimed that “software glitches” on Election night was really his opponents trying to “steal votes.”

This is despite the fact that on Friday (13 Nov), election officials said the election was the “most secure in American history” and there was “no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes or was in any way compromised”.

Trump has not only refused to admit defeat but deliberately impeded the transition process for Joe Biden.

In fact, when asked about facilitating the transition to a Biden administration, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on 10 Nov that there would be a  “smooth transition to a second Trump administration”.

Okay, fine, that was all in the past.

Now that he’s conceded defeat, everything will be fin-

Trump Tweets Hours Later Saying He Has Not Conceded Defeat

Is the whole world being Punk’d or something?

Just two hours after making a concession, Trump said that Biden has only won in the eyes of the “fake news media”.

“I concede NOTHING!” he said.

Yes, it seems that he hasn’t actually accepted the outcome of the election as most of us had hoped.

He later said: “We won’t let a RIGGED ELECTION steal our country!”

Trump has repeatedly claimed that the election was rigged, but has been unable to offer any substantial evidence, even in court.

In one case filed in Pennsylvania, for instance, Trump’s legal team tried to stop the vote count while they were ahead, alleging Trump campaign officials were not allowed to be close enough to the ballot-counting process.

However, when the judge asked Trump’s lawyers how many Republican poll watchers were there, Trump’s lawyer admitted a “non-zero number” of Republican observers were present.

“I’m sorry, then what’s your problem?” the judge responded.

So, if their lawsuits aren’t going anywhere, what’s their endgame here?

A Diversionary Tactic

Experts say Trump’s lawsuits are nothing more than a diversionary tactic, as they have little legal basis.

Instead, they may be using these lawsuits to delegitimise the election process.

Democracy only works when the loser gracefully acknowledges defeat.

As the Jerusalem Post noted, if half the country believes Trump’s claims of a stolen election, it would erode the country’s democracy, and possibly taint future elections.
