Trump is Finally Allowing His Team to Proceed with Transition to Joe Biden

Whether or not you like Donald Trump, one thing is for sure: he’s not a gracious loser.

Even though Joe Biden received over 6 million more votes than Trump, Trump claimed he was the true winner, as the election was supposedly rife with voter fraud.

So, Trump’s lawyers took their allegations of voter fraud to court, hoping to overturn the outcome, but they faced a problem: unlike press conferences, you actually need evidence to make claims in court, and you can be punished for lying under oath.

This is why both witnesses and lawyers have actually admitted in court that they were not alleging fraud, and why many of Trump’s lawsuits have been thrown out of court.

Now, it seems like Trump has finally accepted the results of the election.

Well, kind of.

Trump is Finally Allowing His Team to Proceed with Transition to Joe Biden

It only took two weeks, two days, and an unknowable amount of hours, but Trump is finally allowing officials to proceed with a transition to President-elect Joe Biden.

The announcement came after officials in the state of Michigan certified Biden as the winner, crushing Trump’s hopes of changing the result through legal action.

On Monday (23 Nov), the General Services Administration (GSA) told Biden that he could formally begin the handover process.

This means Biden will now have access to federal funds and an official office to conduct his transition until he takes the big seat on 20 Jan 2021.

Both Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will also receive the regular national security briefings that Trump gets, according to Reuters.

Until Monday, this was denied to Biden and his team due to Trump’s legal challenges and refusal to accept the election results.

I guess this means he’s finally accepted the outcome, then, right?

Right?

Trump: Transition Has Nothing to Do Legal Challenges Over “Most Corrupt Election in American Political History”

Remember when Trump subtly conceded defeat in a tweet, then took it back just two hours later?

Well, he’s done it again.

After GSA’s announcement, Trump tweeted that he recommended the GSA to “do what needs to be done” because it’s in the “best interest of our Country”.

Translated to non-Trumpenese English, this basically means he will allow the transition process to proceed because it’s the best thing for the US.

But five hours later, he tweeted this:

Once again, Trump has kind of conceded, and proceeded to take it back shortly after.

By claiming the transition has nothing to do with his legal challenges over the “most corrupt election in American political history”, Trump is implying that the results of the election aren’t legitimate, and therefore no winner can be declared.

As he said: “We are moving full speed ahead. Will never concede to fake ballots & ‘Dominion’.”

So, whenever you see an article stating Trump has conceded defeat, just wait a couple of hours. He will almost certainly take it back.
