Trump Back in White House & Said He’ll Be Back in the Campaign While Complaining About Fake News

Ever since the coronavirus emerged, Donald Trump has stubbornly refused to wear masks regularly, practise social distancing, or heed the advice of medical experts.

The US President may have believed he was invincible and somehow immune to Covid-19, but unlike him, the coronavirus doesn’t discriminate, and he ended up getting infected.

Many Americans were concerned as Trump is 74-years-old, male, and clinically obese; three factors which increase his risk of developing serious complications from the disease.

But, just four days after being rushed to a medical centre, Trump is back in the White House, and back to doing what he does best: making hyperbolic statements and complaining about “fake news”.

Trump Back in White House & Said He’ll Be Back in the Campaign While Complaining About Fake News

On Monday (5 Oct), Trump boarded a helicopter outside Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre to return to the White House, after his condition seemingly improved.

In typical Trump fashion, when he was asked how many people were infected at the White House, he said, “Thank you very much.”

After returning to the White House, the president walked up the staircase of the portico, took off his mask, and posed for pictures, like most Covid-19 patients do.

Soon after his return, Trump started complaining about “fake news”, in regard to reports that he was trailing in the polls for the upcoming Presidential election.

“The Fake News only shows the Fake Polls,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Trump posted a tweet with some troubling and exaggerated statements.

In his tweet, Trump urged Americans not to be afraid of Covid-19, because the country has “really great drugs and knowledge”.

“Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life,” he wrote.

He added that he now feels better than he did 20 years ago, a statement that even a slightly intelligent parrot could see through.

Trump’s exhortation not to be “afraid” of the virus is a pretty dangerous thing to say, considering over 215,000 Americans have already died from the virus.

This is the highest death toll of any country.

Still Undergoing Treatment

As for Trump, he may be out of the hospital, but he isn’t out of the woods yet.

According to CNATrump has received supplemental oxygen twice in recent days, but is now doing better.

He’s not had a fever in 72 hours and his oxygen levels are now reportedly normal.

However, even after being discharged, Trump will need to continue treatment as he is still undergoing a five-day course of remdesivir – an intravenous antiviral drug.

He will also, of course, need to isolate himself for some time.

More Concerned About Election & Economy

As you know, Trump has not exactly adhered to any safety measures during the coronavirus outrbreak.

In the last few months, while others were practising social distancing and wearing masks, Trump held large campaign rallies that drew thousands of supporters without implementing any safety measures, such as safe distancing or the mandatory wearing of masks.

He has also mocked his opponent in the upcoming presidential election, Joe Biden, for wearing a mask at events.

Trump’s stubborn refusal to heed the advice of experts likely stems from his fear of losing the election, and how an economic downturn would look bad for his campaign.

In his mind, the more people stay at home and miss work, the harder hit the economy, and the worse he looks as a president.

This is why Trump is one of the few political leaders in the world who would say something like “Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life”, even when a million people worldwide have died from the disease.
