US President Donald Trump is considering whether to join Israel’s airstrike operations against Iran.

White House officials revealed that Trump cut short his G7 summit attendance and returned home early. Yesterday (17 Jun 2025), he convened his national security team for a meeting in the White House Situation Room.

The session lasted approximately one hour and 20 minutes.

Military Options Under Review

Multiple American media outlets reported that Trump is examining several options. These include joining Israel’s airstrikes against Iran.

The most likely scenario involves deploying massive US bunker-buster bombs against Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility.

This underground facility sits deep within mountainous terrain. Israeli bombs cannot reach this target.

The New York Times reported that Trump is also considering allowing US tankers to provide aerial refueling for Israeli fighter jets to carry out long-range missions.

Ongoing Conflict

Since June 13, 2025, Israel and Iran have been locked in a rapidly escalating conflict that began when Israel launched a series of airstrikes targeting dozens of Iranian nuclear and military sites under the codename Operation Rising Lion.

These strikes aimed to cripple Iran’s nuclear capabilities, resulting in the deaths of several senior Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists, as well as significant civilian casualties—over 200 in Iran and at least 24 in Israel, according to official sources.

Iran responded with waves of ballistic missile and drone attacks against Israeli military and civilian targets, intensifying fears of a broader regional war.
