Covid-19 is definitely not discriminating anyone.
Not even if you’re the most powerful man in the world.
Donald Trump’s Close Aide Tested Positive
In an interesting twist of event, one of Donald Trump’s aides has tested positive for Covid-19. Not just any of his aides though. In fact, it is Hope Hicks, one of his closest aides.
She serves as the president’s counsellor and even travelled with him for his rally which was held on Wednesday. An administration official revealed that she began to feel mild symptoms during the plane ride home from the rally and was quarantined. She tested positive the next day.
Currently, she is the closest aide of his to test positive for Covid-19.
Hicks travelled with Trump on multiple occasions this week for his rallies. Some of these included Air Force One for Tuesday’s debate and the presidential helicopter for a Minnesota rally on Wednesday.
She is one of Trump’s most trusted aides, and was previously the White House communications director. Prior to the elections, she re-joined the administration.
However, she is not the first White House staffer to be tested positive. Katie Miller, Mike Pence’s press secretary and Robert O’Brien are amongst the earlier cases of Covid-19 in the White House, but remember: they’re not close contact with the President.
Hope Hicks is.
As such, they then scheduled daily testing for Trump’s senior aides. These include anyone else who is in close proximity to the president.
In Quarantine Process
Although the White House did not immediately say anything about Trump’s last test and his quarantine status, the president himself later tweeted that he is currently “in quarantine process” with Melania Trump, because that’s where you get the news.
Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19. Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!

If you have him blocked (we won’t judge), this is what he tweeted:
“Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19. Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!”
Despite the proximity of the positive case, Trump still seems to have a nonchalant attitude.
According to CNA, Trump said in a phone interview, “Whether we quarantine or whether we have it, I don’t know. I just went for a test and we’ll see what happens.”
Past Words Coming Back to Haunt Him
In reply to his tweet, many Americans expressed their “concern” for the president.
Are you infected??
We all hope so.— jacin rome (@boonununu) October 2, 2020
No need to test, Donny – it'll only make you panic.
Besides, Covid "hardly affects anyone", remember?

For the past nine months since the pandemic hit, the death toll has risen to 200,000 in the US. More than seven million people have also been affected by the virus.
During this time, he also said that he had “it under control” even with the rising death count, and in his latest debate with Joe Biden, he claimed that Biden would’ve caused 2 million deaths instead of 200,00 deaths.
He had also claimed to have “played it down” because he did not want to cause panic amongst US citizens.
One can only wonder: with the election taking place in a month’s time, would he be mailing in his ballot…something that he has openly criticised?
