Woman’s Face Becomes an Emoji for 2 Days After She Uses Turmeric As a Mask

If you mention turmeric to someone, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?

Curry.

The author is slowly getting ready for a fourth meal of the day.

But more than that, turmeric also has a ton of health benefits, such as having anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Just don’t expect it to work like medicine.

Alternatively, people also use turmeric as a mask to treat acne and bacteria under the skin.

Face Changed Colour

You could end up with some…awkward side effects.

According to World of Buzz, Twitter user @ibuibuyakult was recommended by her mother to use a turmeric mask.

The Indonesian woman, however, soon got caught in a predicament.

The colour could not come off her face.

She took to Twitter and posted pictures of her situation on 17 October, worried as to why the colour couldn’t be washed off.

This looks vaguely similar to one of the ‘surprised’ emojis inside Whatsapp.

Unsurprisingly, the tweet has gone super viral, garnering over 53,500 likes and more than 15,100 retweets of this writing.

She told World of Buzz that it took around two days after putting “extra effort” to get it off.

Netizens Helped Her

There’s not much to mention about the comments and retweets.

Because let’s admit it, most of us found this funny.

It did get a little weird when others started to advertise their wares on the post, though.

However, there were a few kind souls who also advised @ibuibuyakult on what to do next time.

One suggested that she actually used too much turmeric. Instead, mix it with oatmeal and powdered milk instead.

Another said to mix the turmeric with honey before applying the mask on.

A few in the comments also shared her pain, recounting similar experiences too.

Remembering The Pikachu Cat

While @ibuibuyakult may have had the premiere emoji experience, let’s not forget the OG.

Yes, this is fur real.

The owner decided to use turmeric to treat the feline’s ringworms, a common fungal infection.

What wasn’t accounted for was when the fur dried and the colours stuck, turning its whole skin a yellow shade.

The cat was later photoshopped with red cheeks, successfully transforming it into the iconic Pokemon.

I think the lesson for today is honestly, just be careful with self-help methods.

Or you could save some cost, wing it, and become an internet sensation (for better or worse).
