There are a few things that we hated when we’re walking on the street: people smoking in front of us, couples taking the entire walkway like it’s their grandparents’ path and speeding bicycles that expect the world to give way to them.

And when you couldn’t give way to them?

In this case, they ghosted you with a contact number that’s not in use.

Here’s what happened to a family in East Coast Park.

Mum & Daughter Hit By “UK Cyclist” in ECP, Who Ghosted Them With Invalid Contact Numbers

A family of four was walking in East Coast Park when, unexpectedly, a bicycle came rushing towards them. The mother fell backward after being hit, and the two-year-old daughter was also struck and thrown.

The foreigner who caused the incident left his contact number and then left. The victims were unable to reach the cyclist afterwards, and reported the incident to the police that night.

How It All Started

The accident occurred around 3 pm last Sunday (25 June) at East Coast Park.

The mother, 36-year-old Li Xiaoying, told Shin Min Daily News that she and her husband brought their four-year-old son and two-year-old daughter to the East Coast Lake Food Village for a meal.

After eating, the family walked along the shared path, enjoying their family time, minding their own business…

…but unexpectedly, when she was just turning around to get her son’s drink, she saw a bicycle coming towards her.

It’s unknown if the cyclist had rung his bell.

She couldn’t dodge in time, and both she and her daughter were hit.

“I fell backward and hit my head and back on the ground, while my daughter was flung face down. I immediately felt severe pain in my head, neck, and back. My daughter also started crying on the spot. We were all scared.”

She pointed out that her daughter’s face, hands, and feet were all scraped and bleeding afterwards.

Due to the pain and fright, her daughter couldn’t stop crying, and she cried along with her daughter.

She revealed that the person responsible was a tall foreign man in his twenties.

He apologized repeatedly after the incident, but he said that their injuries would not be serious.

“The man introduced himself as ‘George’ from the UK. My husband took his contact details and told him that he should take responsibility for the accident. He provided both a local and a UK number for contact.”

Her husband tried to call him at that time, but the call didn’t go through. They were too worried about their daughter’s injuries and needed to rush to the hospital, so they let him leave first.

“Unexpectedly, my husband tried to call him more than a dozen times afterwards. The local number was switched off, and the UK number was invalid. My husband reported to the police that night. The police told us that this incident involved personal injury and constituted a criminal offence.”

The police confirmed that they had received a report, and the case is under investigation.
