Ever thought about whether the products you were using were animal cruelty free?

Well, after reading this article, you just might.

The Daily Mail posted a story that revealed the gruesome and chilling behind the scenes of what actually goes on during animal testing.

In the article, an activist from a German group known as Soko Tierschutz came together with Cruelty Free International to reveal how animals were used as test subjects in a lab that was allegedly owned by a company in Mienenbuttel, Hamburg called LPT Laboratory of Pharmacology.

This exposé was only possible because the activist managed to get a job at the lab while he was undercover. He then went on to take pictures and videos of what went on there.

It wasn’t long till the activist found out that the lab was a home ground for animal testings for companies from all over the world.

He noted that the animals used in the test ranged from cats, dogs, rabbits, and even monkeys.

And they didn’t just feed them with strange things.

This lab did monstrous things to animals, almost like a plot from a Netflix drama.

Cats were given up to 13 injections a day by untrained staff to test different products and find out the effects of the products on them. This caused them to suffer from the many health-detrimental side effects that these products have.

In a photo, a cat was even seen missing patches of its beautiful fur.

Dogs had it no better there.

The activist reported that dogs had pipes stuffed down their throats to force-feed them different pills. This resulted in many of the dogs bleeding in their kennels after the testing.

The monkeys had it worst.

Monkeys were tied up painfully with harnesses and when they were tested on, they were in so much pain that their screams for help could be heard throughout the entire lab.

They were also kept in cages that were way too tiny for them, and this caused many of them to develop some form of compulsive disorder.

This case has already been reported to the police and the lab in question is currently under investigation.

While this revelation is shocking and scary, it also serves as a reminder that animal cruelty is something that actually exists. It also shines a light on how the laws in Germany against animal cruelty is not strict enough and needs improvement.

Hopefully, the people responsible for the lab will be dealt with severely for hurting the poor animals and cases like this will not ever happen again.
