People underestimate the power of jaywalking. It isn’t just walking. It’s walking a fine line between life and death.
Now, to be clear, jaywalking is an offence in Singapore.
But if you have to do it? Like the stupid traffic light in front of Wcega Plaza. Don’t do it while you’re on a phone.

Or what happened to this lady might just happen to you.
A Jaywalk On A Sunny Afternoon
On 5 Apr, Facebook page District Singapore uploaded a video.
The video shows a lady who was crossing a busy street.
But she wasn’t doing it with the authority bestowed upon her by the green man. Oh, no.
She dashed across when she saw the vehicles stuck in traffic, while she’s on her phone.
Unfortunately, while she did stop, she did not manage to escape a blue ComfortDelgro taxi, which sent her flying to the ground.
Driver Stepped Out To Help
The taxi driver immediately exited his vehicle and helped her to the side of the road. Thankfully, not on the side that she came from.
A passer-by also came forward to offer his assistance.

Unsympathetic Responses
As with every incident on the internet, you know that the comments section of the video is going to be a treasure trove.
So we went to check in out and found out one thing.
Netizens were more concerned about the taxi uncle…
…the taxi itself…

…and the lady’s phone.
Some observed that this disturbing trend is on the rise.
While others related it back to this meme.
#Priorities
But at the end of the day, this guy can only share something our road-safety instructor has been saying for decades.

Jaywalking is an Offence
By the way, if you didn’t know, jaywalking is an offence that can get you fined.
Initially, the fine was placed at $20. But after 1 Apr 2019, the fine has been raised to $50. If you walk along an expressway tunnel, it’s a $75 fine and you’ll be slapped with a paper that says “I’M AN IDIOT” from BuffLord95.
But at the end of the day, if you want to jaywalk, don’t do it on a busy road.
And when two lanes aren’t moving while the furthest lane is empty? You’re going to want to avoid that because vehicles on that lane could be zooming past.
Would you be jailed for being half-naked in public? Well, the answer will shock you. Seriously. Watch this to the end and you'll understand:
