Man Took Upskirt Videos of His Subordinate By Tying a Phone on His Ankle

What would you do if you were infatuated with someone?

Most of us would probably:

  1. Try to strike up a conversation with them
  2. Ask them to hang out
  3. Accept their rejection and move on if they say no

This is usually how people court each other, right? Well, this man tried something a little different, and a lot grosser:

4. Tie a phone to your ankle and take an upskirt video of them

The good news is that he didnโ€™t get away with his crime.

Man Took Upskirt Videos of His Subordinate By Tying a Phone on His Ankle

Our story involves a 60-year-old man who had grown infatuated with his female colleague.

Between 7 Feb and 14 Sep last year, the man would walk up to the victim to talk to her on several occasions. Unbeknownst to her, he was distracting her while taking an upskirt video.

He had tied his phone to his ankle with a rubber band, placing it in such a way that the camera faced outwards. He would either record her while they were talking, or while standing or sitting behind the victim โ€“ he would place his foot under the womanโ€™s dress or skirt.

After taking the videos, the man would take screenshots โ€œfor (his) own pleasureโ€ and โ€œto view laterโ€. He would alternate between two phones when taking the videos. All the offences were committed at their place of work.

During that period, he had taken 15 upskirt videos of the victim. In September last year, the woman felt that something was amiss with the manโ€™s behaviour, so she lodged a police report.

He claimed he had succumbed to his temptation due to the โ€œimmense stress he was facing at workโ€.

Arenโ€™t we all immensely stressed at work?

The offenderโ€™s lawyers said their client is remorseful and has taken steps to โ€œreform himselfโ€. He has also written a letter of apology to the victim.

โ€œThe accused has suffered greatly under his feelings of guilt since investigations into his actions commenced, knowing he had made a huge mistake,โ€ they said.

Believe it or not, the manโ€™s supervisor had encouraged him to return to work at the same office, but the man declined to do so โ€œout of consideration for the victim, and from a desire to start afresh in life.โ€

The identity of the man cannot be revealed due to court orders which forbid the identification of the victim and the location of their workplace.
