Imagine feeling scared to dress a certain way because there are people out there who would take advantage of the openings in your clothing.
Unfortunately, this is a reality for many women in Singapore.
In recent years, more and more reports of men taking upskirt videos of unsuspecting victims have emerged, spreading fear among women.
These offenders are almost always caught and punished, but men are still committing this misdeed.
This time, the incident took place at an MRT station.

On Tuesday morning (6 July) a 38-year-old man was caught allegedly taking an upskirt video of a woman on the escalator at Clementi MRT station at about 7.20am.
Officers from the Public Transport Security Command spotted the man in the act and later detained him at the concourse area, where he was arrested.
The police now believe that the man has been involved in several other similar cases at MRT stations.
Investigations are ongoing.
If found guilty, the man may be jailed for up to two years, fined, and caned.
Man Sentenced to 8 Months’ Jail for Taking Upskirt Videos
Just last week, a 45-year-old Yap Seng Gim was sentenced to eight months’ jail for the same crime.
Except he was a little more prolific – Yap had taken more than 200 upskirt videos of women between 2012 and 2018.
His offences came to light on 14 September 2018, when one of his victims caught him red-handed.
Around 8.50am that day, Yap had started following a 36-year-old woman at Esplanade MRT Station as he found her attractive.
He began filming up her skirt on an uprising escalator, and the victim, feeling that something was not quite right, abruptly turned around.
Seeing Yap behind her, the victim suspected that he was taking upskirt photos of her and grabbed his arm, asking why he was taking photos of her.
When she demanded he hand his phone over to her, Yap tried running away and the victim shouted “He took my picture!”
This caught the attention of a passer-by, who took Yap’s phone away and called the police.
The police later discovered a total of 217 upskirt videos on Yap’s phone.
The 45-year-old admitted that he would follow and target women dressed in short skirts on escalators, and that he would later masturbate to the upskirt videos he took of them.
