On 2 May 2020, a US researcher who studied in Singapore, Bing Liu, was found dead with gunshot wounds to his neck and head in a home in Ross Township, north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States.
Less than 1.6km away, a second body, Hao Gu, was found shot dead in a car.
Investigators Suspect A Murder-And-Suicide
According to the Ross police department, they suspect that Hao Gu might’ve shot Liu in his own home, then drove away before shooting himself.

The two men know each other, Ross Township police Detective Sgt. Brian Kohlhepp said.
Investigations are ongoing but they’ve ruled out the possibility of Liu being targeted because he is Chinese.
They believe that before the unfortunate incident, both parties were involved in a “lengthy dispute regarding an intimate partner.”
Liu Was About To Make A Discovery About Covid-19
Liu earned a Ph.D. in computational science from the National University of Singapore. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Carnegie Mellon University before he became a research associate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
In a statement issued by his university, he was described as an “excellent mentor” and a “prolific researcher” who specialises in “system biology”.
They went on to add that he was about to make some groundbreaking discoveries about Covid-19 before he died.
“Bing was on the verge of making very significant findings toward understanding the cellular mechanisms that underlie SARS-CoV-2 infection and the cellular basis of the following complications.”
The school promises to complete his research so that they can “pay homage to his scientific brilliance”.
Nothing To Do With Covid-19
There are conspiracy theories on the internet about Covid-19 and this could solidify the theory, especially for fans of spy thrillers.

The Ross Police Department, however, clarified that this incident has nothing to do with the coronavirus:
“We have found zero evidence that this tragic event has anything to do with employment at the University of Pittsburgh, any work being conducted at the University of Pittsburgh and the current health crisis affecting the United States and the world.”
They’ve forwarded the case to the federal government, not because it’s above their paygrade, but because both men are not US citizens.
Would you be jailed for being half-naked in public? Well, the answer will shock you. Seriously. Watch this to the end and you'll understand:
