Video: Whale Shark Asks M’sian Fishermen To Cut Rope Caught on Its Body Then Waves Goodbye

Humans really aren’t the most physically gifted animals in the world.

Seriously, almost any wild animal can kill us in a one-on-one fight.

But what we lack in physical abilities, we make up with our intellect (unless you’re our boss, that is).

As a result, our brains dwarf that of basically every animal out there on the planet, and they appear extremely primitive to us.

But then there are some animals which are pretty damn smart, making you go “Wow”.

For example, dolphins are amongst the smartest animals in the world. That’s why you often see them train to perform tricks at aquariums.

Now, what other aquatic animals are smart too?

Whale sharks, it seems.

Whale Shark Requests Aid From Fishermen

Looks like their large body size also comes with larger brains.

Fun Fact: Whale sharks are the largest species of sharks, and are also the largest non-mammal vertebrate.

A boat of fishermen were doing their thing when they noticed a fish much, much larger than normal, swim up to them.

It was a gorgeous whale shark.

It swam around the side of the boat repeatedly, seemingly trying to convey something.

That’s when the fishermen noticed.

There was a yellow rope stuck around the whale shark’s body.

And having no arms, it couldn’t get rid of it on its own.

Thus, the fishermen knew there was one thing to do.

One of the fishermen then used a fishing gaff (basically a pole with a hook) to pull in the whale shark closer to them, before they tried to free the poor fish.

Fun Fact: Yes, sharks are fishes.

They then got work on cutting the rope, getting pretty close to the whale shark.

You: “But… what if it goes full Jaws and attacks them?!”

Fun Fact: Whale sharks feed on plankton and have a good relationship with humans.

The fishermen were then finally able to free the rope by slicing with a chopper.

Seemingly elated, the whale shark then swam away from the boat, waving the kind fishermen goodbye.

Environmental Message

Looks like turtles and plastic straws aren’t the only example of how human pollution is affecting aquatic creatures.

Who knows what would have happened if the whale shark didn’t manage to run into some compassionate fishermen to help with its ordeal?

Humans, please dispose of your rubbish properly. There are places where they belong.

If you dispose of trash into the sea callously, then that’s what you are.

Trash.
