Imagine you just had a romantic night with your partner which ended in some passionate hanky-panky.
Relaxed and satisfied, you turn on the news and read that the condom you used may have already been used by someone else.

This sounds like the disgusting plot of a B-grade comedy movie, but it actually happened and it’s way more nauseating when you hear the details.
Police in Vietnam Seized 345,000 Used Condoms That Were Washed & Resold Again
Police in Vietnam has seized an estimated 345,000 used condoms which were resold to unsuspecting customers as new, according to CNN.
The condoms were found in a warehouse in the southern province of Binh Duong, packaged in large bags that were scattered all over the floor.
Market inspectors had raided the warehouse following a tip from a local resident.
The police said the bags weighed over 360 kilograms, which is equivalent to 345,000 condoms, according to state-owned Vietnam Television (VTV).
According to Tuoi Tre, the owner of the warehouse said they had received a “monthly input of used condoms from an unknown person”.
As for how they cleaned the condoms, well, you might want to put away your bowl of Chendol before I tell you.
According to a woman who was detained by the police, the used condoms were first boiled in water then dried, before being reshaped on a wooden phallus.
It was then repackaged and sold as new.
It’s unclear, however, how many of these used condoms were actually sold. The detained woman said she’d received $0.17 for every kilogramme of recycled condoms she produced.
A woman, who was believed to be the owner of the warehouse, has been arrested.
Tuoi Tre reported that the Vietnamese police will investigate the facility and track down others involved in the operation.
A health official warned that using recycled condoms posed an extreme health risk to users, though we already knew that.
Never Reuse Condoms
This may be self-evident, but you should never wash and reuse a condom, even if it’s not from some shady warehouse.
Back in 2018, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warned against cleaning and reusing condoms as it “diminishes the protective effect of condoms by leading to condom breakage, slippage, or leakage”.
Not only will soap and water make the latex more prone to tears, it may not even kill all the microorganisms inside the condom.
You should also use a new condom for each new sex act, meaning if you have sex three times in one night, you should use three condoms.
Let’s just be thankful that the police have never made such a discovery here.
