The body of 19-year-old Nguyễn Thị Yến Nhi was discovered floating in a river in Hưng Yên, Vietnam, on 19 Nov 2025.

The victim had been bound with duct tape and placed inside a nylon bag before being discarded in the water near Đức Hợp Commune.
Hanoi police arrested her boyfriend on 24 Nov 2025 as a suspect in their investigations.
Body Discovered in Severely Decomposed State
Yến Nhi had been missing since 4 Nov 2025, the day after she left her hometown in Nghệ An to visit Hanoi.
When authorities recovered her remains, the body was in an advanced state of decomposition. Visual identification proved difficult.
Her family identified her through distinctive features including a neck tattoo displaying “19-12-2006” – her birthdate. The victim had a total of four additional tattoos on her body, a scar on her waist, and light brown dyed hair.

48-year-old Nguyen Van Ngoc, Yến Nhi’s father, confirmed the identification based on these matching characteristics.
The family is awaiting DNA confirmation from authorities.
From Hanoi Visit to Tragic Disappearance
Earlier this year, Yến Nhi had worked at a clothing shop in Hanoi before moving to an electronics company in Bắc Ninh.
She quit her job two months before her disappearance to care for her ailing grandmother.
On 2 Nov 2025, a man and a woman visited the family home to see Yến Nhi for approximately 30 minutes. The following day, she requested permission to visit Hanoi and caught a bus from the highway.
On the morning of 4 Nov 2025, she phoned her family to say she had arrived safely and planned to return to Nghệ An later that day. She never came home.
Her family received a message from her on 5 Nov 2025 saying she would return that evening. This was the last contact they had with the 19-year-old.
When the family could not reach her, they filed a missing persons report and began searching. Relatives shared information online about her disappearance.
A resident from Hưng Yên then reported that a female body with similar tattoos had been found in the river.
Mr Nguyen Van Ngoc described his eldest daughter as cheerful and diligent. He noted that Yến Nhi showed no signs of unhappiness before leaving home and had indicated she would only be gone for one or two days.
