According to this Facebook user, Vogue Singapore did not observe safe distancing measures when they received gifts of Macbooks, iPads and iWatches from Apple.

The employees were photographed standing close together posing with their gifts, taking a tour of the office and gathering around for present-opening.

Editor-In-Chief Apologises, Say They’ll Work From Home For Phase One

37-year-old Norman Tan, editor-in-chief of Vogue Singapore, took to Instagram to apologise for their actions.

He blamed the incident on a “lapse of judgement” and said that the employees were so happy and excited to see each other again they decided to take a photo together.

“However, when I met the team yesterday, we were all excited to see each other and decided to gather for a photo. It was such a joy to see members of the team in person after months of seeing them only through a screen.”

He emphasised that before the photo-taking incident, they had adopted precautionary measures such as:

  • safe distancing
  • sanitisation stations
  • the checking of temperatures
  • the wearing of masks
  • and recording the entry of every person.

So, what are the consequences of these incriminating photos?

“All publications under IMV will work from home for the rest of phase one immediately.”

MOM Guidelines For Safety Management Measures (SMM) At The Workplace

MOM has a long essay on what can or cannot be done at the workplace during Phase One.

You can find out more here but if you only have 3-minutes to finish reading this article before you go back to work, here’s a TL; DR:

  • No socialising at work, including during mealtimes or breaktime
  • Cancel team-bonding activities
  • People who can still work from home must still work from home
  • Stagger working hours and drive good friends apart

A good rule of the thumb is, if your employees feel like they’re lonely even when working with other people, you’re doing a great job with your SMM.

Who would’ve thought that making someone feel lonely in a crowd of people is the way to go now?

By the way, be careful of what you post online because breaking the rules and posting it online is one sure way of getting charged in court according to the authorities.
