Previously, it was unveiled that an entire ultra-luxe condo in Orchard, called Eden, has gone to one single buyer.
We’re talking 20 apartment units, each the size of more than two executive flats.
All of it went to one single purchaser.
Truly, it’s as they say. “Money, money, money, must be funny, in a rich man’s world.”

Family of Popular Want Want Bought the Entire S$293 Million Ultra-Luxe Condo at Orchard
And now, we’ve learnt of the identity of the ludicrously wealthy purchaser. And it’s none other than this guy:
Or to be more specific, the family behind this guy.
According to the Business Times, the Tsai family, which is behind the powerful Want Want China Holdings, has purchased the condo touted as an “ultra-luxury garden residence in Orchard”.
Apparently, the transaction spanned some S$293 million, and involved three “tranches”.
It’s said that Tsai Eng-Meng, chairman of Want Want China Holdings, will be taking one floor. His son, Tsai Eng Meng, will be picking up the rest, with 18 wrapped up in a single deal and the sole remaining unit in a separate transaction.
Wealth
The move would surely come as no surprise, considering how Tsai Eng Meng was ranked the third richest man of Taiwan as of 2020 by Forbes.
He was reported to have had a net worth of USD$6.3 billion (~S$8.4 billion).
Want Want China Holdings has also made significant returns last year, amid economic recovery in mainland China.
Apparently, double-digit gains were reported over six months in 2020.
Eden
Eden was reportedly designed by Thomas Heatherwick of Heatherwick Studios, the same mastermind behind The Hive at NTU.
Apparently, the condominium was established with Singapore’s vision as a “city in a garden”.

It finished production in 2019.
Each unit reportedly spans an entire floor: the space of more than two executive flats. Each level comes with a 270-degree bespoke “private gardens-in-the-sky” feature.

The condominium would also offer a scenic view of the Orchard district.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Eden has earned a nomination for Building of the Year 2021.
