In case you don’t know what YouFoodz is, it’s a prepared meal service where you can order meals made from their prepared menu.

Or, if you want to put it another way, an online restaurant.

It’s pretty popz in Australia, worth about S$250 million.

But really, we’re just interested in the drama presented here. (Or at least, as a Gossip Feed writer, I am.)

And for the modern drama, we don’t look at the TV shows. We look to Instagram since drama will always present themselves.

Racial Slurs On Instagram Stories

On 3 Nov 2019, a thread, “YouFoodz owner and founder’s fiancee Jordana Stott racist slur on Instagram”, was made on Reddit by user u/aussiebattlerfairgoz in the r/Queensland subreddit.

Jordana Stott is, as the title states, YouFoodz CEO, Lance Giles’s fiancee.

The video is a compilation of Instagram stories showing racial slurs from her Instagram account, which is now made private. Here’s the video.

In the first story, you can see the camera following a bald Asian man walking in his what seems to be swimming trunks, with the caption “Living his best life”.

You’d think there’s something more interesting than a bald half-naked Asian man walking and minding his own business, but nope. That’s all there is to see here.

In the second story, the camera zooms in on an Asian dude showing his female companion a video of some origami.

“F*cking origami, mate! F*cking origami!” can be heard in a mocking voice.

What is interesting about a dude showing a video to somebody else I have no idea either.

And in the third story, they zoom in to a group of Asian women taking a photo in a rooftop swimming pool.

The same mocking voice can be heard saying, “Oh yeah, get it c*nts! F*cking get the photo! Oh f*cking yeah shi-shing, yeah shi-shing.”

A man’s voice is then heard in the background, saying “shi shing” or something similar.

What the camerawoman finds so fascinating I had no idea, so I decided to take this into my own investigative hands and filmed my own colleagues.

If someone can find people sharing videos interesting, or people taking photos interesting, then surely what we do here at Goody Feed, which involves sharing articles, videos and taking pics, must be a goldmine for entertainment.

Colleague A: …Simi lan you doing?

Me: Investigative Journalism.

Colleague A: …what?

Me: I need to understand the woman’s psyche! This is how I will understand! So let me film you!

*gets reported to Boss for workplace harassment*

Me: Wait, I can explain!

I wasn’t able to unlock insights into why Stott could have found the above interesting. So the next best thing is the comments section.

Netizens Reactions A Mix of Fire And Fury

Take note, these reactions are from the r/Queensland subreddit, so it’s likely these are non-Asians.

And people are not happy about the racial slurs.

One said that what she did was just annoying.

And an unverifiable source talks about poor employee treatment.

Though, it’s not just netizens wanting to understand the meaning behind the video.

Supermarket Woolworths Launched Investigation

Woolworths sells some of YouFoodz’ items, like their choc chip protein cookie. As a supermarket giant, that’s big money in there for Youfoodz.

But Woolworths doesn’t seem to be too happy with the video either since they requested an explanation from YouFoodz.

Apology

Giles apologised in a statement made to the Daily Mail:

‘Watching this back makes us feel pretty lousy.

‘What we thought was light-hearted is unpleasant and not funny.

‘Jordana and I would like to assure everyone that this isolated incident does not portray the way we feel or act on a day-to-day basis.’

‘We deeply apologise for any offence this misjudgment has caused.’

People Are Not Convinced

One viewer of the video said to DailyMail, ‘It’s horrible that a brand that promotes wellness and togetherness through their campaigns and promotions can be so insensitive to other cultures, considering they employ a lot of workers of Asian descent too.’

And over at the r/Brisbane subreddit, netizens don’t seem convinced either.

A few mentioned that they hope YouFoodz will get their just desserts.

One said that this behaviour is disgusting.

Hopefully, netizens are wrong and this is really just a one-off mistake.
