Watching Motivational Videos Online Won’t Make You Successful

Motivation is hard to come by.

We want abs of steel but find it difficult to get out of bed. We want to write the next bestselling novel but coming up with ideas is a chore.

And we want to be successful but we’re just not motivated enough.

And so, we search for motivation online.

There’s a reason why TED talks and motivational speeches are so popular on YouTube. We hope that by listening to these inspiring speeches we’ll find the motivation to pursue our goals.

But do they really work?

Tell me if this situation sounds familiar:

You feel like life’s slowly passing you by as you’ve settled for mediocrity. You feel frustrated at your lack of motivation and struggle to find any inspiration from within. So, you watch a couple of motivational speeches online. You instantly feel a surge of excitement and inspiration. You feel like your life is finally going to change. You’re finally going to be successful!

But then you wake up the next day and find that your motivation has fizzled out like an old can of soda.

Why?

Because motivation can only come from within.

Giving A Man A Fish VS Teaching A Man To Fish

Relying on others for inspiration is not enough. We still have to push ourselves to get the things we want.

One man who strongly believes in self-inspired life changes is Tony Robbins, the American self-help guru.

Even as a motivational speaker, Robbins understands that true change can only be achieved through proactivity and determination.

In his motivational seminar “Unleash the Power Within”, Robbins outlines four steps to achieving your goals.

1. A ‘Must’, Not a ‘Should’

According to Robbins, the problem that many of us have is our mindset.

We should think about achieving our goals as a “must” and not a “should”.

If we continue to believe we “should” pursue our dreams ‘someday’, we’ll keep putting it off because we don’t see it as an urgent necessity.

But if we believe we “must” achieve our goals, then we’ll prioritize it and view it as essential to our happiness.

It’s like a mother being able to lift a car to save her baby. She must save her precious baby, not that she should.

2. Excuses

“I’m tired.”

“I have too much work to do.”

“I can’t do it right now.”

Sound familiar? According to Robbins, humans are good at identifying obstacles and hiding behind it instead of pushing through.

Coming up with excuses is a lot easier than doing whatever it takes to achieve your goals. The trick is to ignore that annoying, crippling voice inside your head that says “You can’t.”

3. Adopt a “growth mindset”

One of the most difficult things in achieving success is pushing past the setbacks and disappointments that you’re bound to encounter along the way. That’s why Robbins believes we should adopt a “growth mindset” that’ll help us deal with the impediments.

No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow your progress, you’re still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying,” Robbins says.

The self-help guru believes we’re “dying” if we’re not working towards something. Progress is key.

4. Accept that failure is inevitable

We may not be aware of it, but many of us put off our dreams and desires because we subconsciously believe we’ll fail.

Accepting and overcoming failure is crucial to achieving your goals. Successful people do not let fear hold them back, Robbins says. For them, settling is far worse.

Motivational speeches will not make you successful, but they can help you find a path to success.

If you desperately want to be successful in life but need that spark of motivation, ‘Unleash the Power Within‘ could provide that spark.

Tony Robbins’ seminar will undoubtedly motivate and excite you. It’s an invigorating and inspiring event with music, dancing, and even pyrotechnics. You’ll pump your fist, shout your heart out, and learn from the master of motivation.

Now, you’ll be thinking, I can’t afford to fly to America. That’s too expensive even for a life-changing experience.

But What If It’s In S’pore?

That’s right, Tony Robbins is coming to Singapore to hold a four-day seminar for Singaporeans.

After which, prices will increase.

You can book your tickets here.

One Last Thing

Once you leave the event, however, it’s up to you to follow through. True change starts from within.

As John F. Kennedy once said, every accomplishment begins with the decision to try.

Remember, 1% of the world’s population truly reach success. At the same time, only 1% of the world’s population truly decided to try too.
