Singapore is a great country to live in, isn’t it?
Reader IH8SG: Eh, how much the government paying you to say this? Every time people talk good about Singapore confirm is paid one.
Me to the other pro-Singapore writers:
But let’s be real. Low crime rate, high cleanliness, good quality of living, well-developed economy… we’ve been having a good life.
However, there is one thing that always makes us go “Oh god, I wish I was living in another country”.
Yep, it’s the blazing heat.
But any tourist coming to Singapore in this period would be disappointed to find none of Singapore’s infamous heat in the current month.
If tourists can come in, that is.
Southwest Monsoon & Solar Heating
We’ve all enjoyed the rainy mornings and cooling evenings in the past two weeks of July. Most of us aren’t sure why, but it’d be best not to look a gift horse in the mouth.
Well, the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) is answering it for us.
We’ve been experiencing “Southwest Monsoon” conditions that allow us our cooling breezes. And what about our high rainfall?

It’s due to strong solar heating.
Strong solar heating?!
Don’t worry, it sounds serious, but it just means that the sun is radiating slightly more heat than usual. The Earth’s not gonna explode and melt.
Yet.
Rainy Days Ahead
If you can’t bear to part with this new cooling weather, fret not. The MSS has some good news for us.
The winds from the Southwest Monsoon are expected to persist for the next two weeks of July as well.
The same goes for the “monsoon rain band” that will bring about our rainy mornings when we get to sleep in.
We should have an idol group called the Monsoon Rain Band.
As a result, temperature forecasts fall between 24°C to 33°C, with some days going as low as 22°C.
Yep, we’re gonna get to save some cost on air-conditioning on a few rainy days ahead as the monsoon is gonna do it for us.

Who am I kidding, I’m still gonna be sleeping with my aircon on coz I’m a spoilt kid like that.
