Warm & Humid Weather Expected for 1st Half of Jun 2021 With Temperatures Up to 35°C

If you’ve been sweating your butt off day and night, wondering if the heat had suddenly cranked itself up these past few days, you’re not being delusional.

Unlike the warm and rainy May, we’ll truly be experiencing hot girl summer (yay?)—it’s predicted that June will be warm and humid.

Sorry, I’m leaning more towards nay right now.

Speaking of May showers, the heaviest thundery showers during the month occurred on 17 and 18 May, with a rainfall of 117.2mm at Jurong West.

Guess who got splashed in the Wild Wild Wet West in May. This poor Goody Feed writer, just trying to go home.

Warm & Humid Weather In the 1st Half of June

According to the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), the current warm and humid conditions are forecast to continue into the first fortnight of June 2021.

Overall, the light and variable winds are expected to strengthen and blow from the southeast or southwest, signalling the end of the inter-monsoon season and the beginning of the southwest monsoon season.

The agency explains that this monsoon season typically extends into September and is a generally drier season compared to other times of the year.

Why would it be drier?

That’s because in the first half of June, the monsoon rain band is forecast to lie over the northern Southeast Asia region, bringing dry, warm and humid conditions to our island and the surrounding region.

The rain band is a band of clouds that forms where monsoon winds converge and where solar heating is the strongest.

However, you should still carry an umbrella around with you just in case there’s any sudden downpours, if not to shield your precious skin from the sun.

MSS notes that there might be localised short-duration showers at times with thunder over a few parts of the island in the late morning and early afternoon on some days.

“In addition, on one or two days, Sumatra squalls moving from the Strait of Malacca to the South China Sea are expected to bring island-wide thundery showers with occasional gusty winds in the morning,” they wrote.

Hopefully, these fall on a weekend so that we’ll be able to catch up on some beauty sleep.

As for the weather at night, it is also expected to be warm and humid due to winds from the southeast bringing warm, humid air from the sea over the land.

Unfortunately, the lowest night-time temperature is pegged at 28°C. The daily temperature on most days is forecasted to range between 25°C and 34°C, with the maximum temperature reaching 35°C on a few days when there are few clouds in the sky.

At this point, I can’t tell if those are tears coming out of my eyes or sweat.
