To all you Singaporeans who still think about the Baconator and Chilli Cheese Fries from Wendy’s till this day, we have some news for you — Wendy’s may be making a comeback to Singapore.
Or perhaps not. No one knows for sure, but what you should know is that Wendy’s has just listed a job offer in Singapore, which has sparked rumours of a potential comeback.
Wendy’s Lists Job Offer in Singapore
On Sunday (1 March), some eagle-eyed netizens were quick to notice a new job listing posted on the Wendy’s LinkedIn page. The listing was for the position of a Senior Specialist in Construction in Singapore.

The job is pretty self-explanatory — it’s essentially to monitor the construction of Wendy’s franchises. Or, as the job listing puts it, the role would require one to “collaborate closely with Franchisees, providing expert guidance and support throughout the design, procurement, and construction phases”.
According to the listing description, someone applying for the position is expected to have a Bachelor’s Degree, a minimum of three years’ experience on F&B construction management rollout programmes, knowledge of construction processes and more.
It’s no wonder that the job offer posted by Wendy’s has sparked rumours of a potential return to Singapore. After all, why would there be a need to hire a Senior Specialist in Construction from Singapore, if Wendy’s isn’t looking to come back to Singapore?
At the time of writing, it appears that there are already 61 applicants for the position.
Aside from Singapore, it seems that Wendy’s is also looking to generally expand its franchise operations in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa (APMEA). Two weeks ago, it posted a job listing for the position of Head of Franchise Recruiting in APMEA.
It reposted the listing on Monday (3 March). At the time of writing, the position has 47 applicants.
Not the First Time Wendy’s Has Listed Job Offers in Singapore
If you didn’t know, Wendy’s has had a rough history in Singapore. It left the Singapore market shortly after entering it in the 1980s, before returning in 2009, and leaving once again in 2015.
A few years after Wendy’s closed its doors in Singapore in 2015, it pulled a similar stint to the one it currently is pulling — listing job offerings which were based in Singapore.
Specifically, in May 2021, the fast food chain put up a job listing for the position of a Franchise Operations Manager in Singapore.
Yet, as evident from the absence of Wendy’s outlets in Singapore in the past couple of years, Wendy’s did not make a comeback despite putting up the 2021 job offering.
We hope whoever applied for this job offer didn’t kena pai tao by Wendy’s…
So, who knows? Perhaps the new Senior Specialist in Construction position would mean that Wendy’s is serious about making a comeback this time. Or perhaps the new job offer is yet another tease, much like the 2021 one.
We’ll find out soon enough.
