WhatsApp Last Seen Was Down Early This Morning & It Shows How Important That Feature Is

In the old days, before texts were sent over the internet if your crush didn’t respond to your message you could convince yourself that it was because she hadn’t seen it or that she had met with a freak accident that prevented her from using her thumbs.

But then messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram arrived, and you now had no choice but to stare rejection in the face, either in the form of a small green dot or a last seen status.

This last seen feature, while it has broken the hearts of many unfortunate lovers, is extremely useful, and can leave us feeling lost when it’s gone.

WhatsApp users around the world are complaining of a glitch with the messaging app’s privacy control settings, as they’re not able to see when their contacts were last seen.

This ‘Last Seen’ feature can be set to Everyone, where users will be able to see when their contacts were last active on the app, or Nobody, where your

According to the Financial Express, WhatsApp seems to have switched everyone’s last seen settings from “everyone” to “nobody” without their knowledge.

And users were getting a “WhatsApp was not able to change the privacy setting. Please try again later.” error message if they tried to change it back.

Even when some managed to change it to Everyone, it would automatically switch back to Nobody once the user left their settings.

In addition to not being able to see when someone was last active, users are reportedly unable to see their contacts’ online or typing status as well, reported the DailyMail.

Outage monitor website DownDetector showed a huge spike in WhatsApp down reports from 11pm on Friday (19 June) until 4.30am the next day.

Some users have complained about connection and login issues as well.
While most of the reports seem to be from Europe, users in the UK, America, and parts of Asia including India have experienced the same issue.
The problem has reportedly since been resolved, and users are able to change their privacy settings once again, according to India Tv News.

Fortunately, there were no problems with other privacy settings, such as profile photos and statuses.

New Payment Feature

Earlier this week, WhatsApp  its new payment feature, where users will be able to send and receive money through the app.

In a blog post, WhatsApp said users will be able to link their Visa or Mastercard to their credit or debit card, and complete transactions after using a six-digit PIN or fingerprint.

Currently, it is only available for those in Brazil.

“Sending money or making a purchase on WhatsApp is free for people. Businesses will pay a processing fee to receive customer payments, similar to what they may already pay when accepting a credit card transaction.

“Payments on WhatsApp are beginning to roll out to people across Brazil beginning today and we look forward to bringing it to everyone as we go forward.”

That’s great and all, WhatsApp, but I need to see what time my boss is active on the app so I’ll know when I’ll have to be at the office.
