Woman Who Was Caught on Camera Blocking a Row of Cars Responded to Incident

Oftentimes, we’re inclined to reach a conclusion even before we’ve heard both sides of the story.

Such is the patience of humans, a race used to dominating in this fast-paced, competitive world.

However, it’s imperative that we hear both sides of the story before reaching a consensus…

Or a mistake in judgement may just be made.

Take the following case, for example. A woman who was accused of not giving way and blocking traffic has voiced out with her own side of the story…

And honestly speaking… it’s no longer as clear-cut as previously believed.

Woman Who Was Caught on Camera Blocking a Row of Cars Responded to Incident

Lest you’re unaware, the aforementioned incident occurred outside Katong Shopping Centre last Thursday (Aug 6), at about 5.10pm.

In a video posted by Facebook user Heng Mis Kim, a white multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) could be seen blocking other cars at the mall’s exit.

In his post, Mr Heng alleged that he was attempting to exit the mall when he met the MPV driver, who failed to have her signal lights on.

According to him, she was also obstructing access to the exit by not turning into the main road.

Heng then honked at the female driver, but she did not budge.

She allegedly even challenged him to file a complaint with the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

“She told me to complain to LTA” and “I honk at her but she refuses to exit, see,” he said.

He also pointed out how there was “a whole line of cars waiting for her” behind, adding:

The MPV Driver’s Side Of The Story

On 10 August, Lianhe Wanbao reporters headed down to Katong Shopping Centre, where they identified a white MPV parked at the same spot as that of the aforementioned vehicle.

The driver was also identified as Ms Zhang.

According to the report, the 42-year-old woman, who runs a shop in the mall, had been trying to back up from the right lane so that she could unload goods on the left lane.

However, the cabby allegedly proved too impatient and she was unable to reverse.

A standstill also occurred.

Ms Zhang claimed that she had slowed down thereafter in case there were pedestrians crossing the road, but Heng was already honking at her.

It was only with the intervention of another driver that she ultimately managed to park her vehicle.

“Fortunately, another driver helped to persuade the cabby to back up a little, so that I had space to park.

“There was a deadlock of around 10 minutes before the matter was resolved.”

According to Ms Zhang, the cabby was confrontational, possessed a vile attitude and kept shouting in a loud tone despite her attempts to explain the situation.

It was because of his attitude that she felt it impossible to breach the matter in a civil tone, she claimed.

“If he had used a better tone, I would have given in,” she said. “But his attitude was terrible so there is no way to discuss it. Why should I let myself be bullied by him?”

Well, I guess only they will know who’s genuinely in the right, and who’s in the wrong.

With that said, try to practice civility on the roads, folks.

It’s dangerous enough without human intervention, really.
