Let’s talk about hair la har.
A lady’s hair is her crowning glory. It’s beautiful to look at, and in some instance, if it’s dyed the right colour, she will look like a superstar.
Well, almost. Her face has to be beautiful also, right?
But what happens when you dye your hair too often? Can it fall off? Like drop in clumps every time you try to comb it?
Here’s what we found out – if you dye your hair too many times in a day, it’ll burn.
Sort of.
Want to Dye Hair to Ash Green
So, this poor lady from Sichuan, China headed over to the hair saloon, because she wanted to change her hair colour to a beautiful ash green.
I mean, I can’t blame her la. Nowadays got so many rainbow coloured locks you see online, you also wanna get your hair dyed, right?
Anyway back to the woman. Deng (she’s only been identified by her surname) went to a saloon to dye her hair. The dyeing process took a long 7 hours.
Has to Bleach & Redye Hair
She had really long black hair, so the hairstylist told her that she has to bleach her hair. When her hair was dyed for the first time, the stylist said that the colour wasn’t the same everywhere so she had to restart the dyeing process for another time.
At the second time, Deng already felt her scalp burning. You know what her hair stylist told her? IT’S NORMAL. Just tahan beh.
The third application came on, and this time Deng said she could still feel pain on her scalp, and asked the lady about the product’s quality. The stylist just brushed her off and said that’s she’s being impossible, and CONTINUED to dye Deng’s hair!
And the colour came out apple green the third time round instead of the ashy green shade Deng wanted.
As Deng was clearly not happy with the apple green, the stylist dyed her hair black the FOURTH time round. Yes, immediately after that.
I guess we won’t even shampoo that many times in a few hours.
By this time, the poor lady can no longer tahan the pain. She started to cry. The stylist asked Deng to stay on and said that it’ll be over soon.
Deng couldn’t take it already, so she called her daughter to come and fetch her. Her daughter came at around 11:00 p.m. to pick her up. Around the same time, the stylist realized that something wasn’t correct, and started washing the hair dye off.
Deng went to the hospital later, and the dermatologist said that her scalp was suffering from shock thanks to an allergic reaction from the dye brand.
Her scalp had a crazy 40% burns on it, caused by chemicals.
So, she had to shave her hair all off as any remaining dye could have caused her more harm. Deng is, of course, pissed off. She’s suing the hair salon for compensation S$12,523.
You go girl!
Technically, how often can you dye your hair?
According to a local hairstylist, the key factor is the dye used. However, just as a rough guide, the recommended period between two colourings is at around five weeks, or one month.
And this lady has her hair dyed four times in a few hours. It isn’t so surprising, isn’t it?
