A 42-year-old woman fell into a drain in Buona Vista after part of the drain cover shifted while she was walking home from work.
The woman sustained a cut on her leg from the accident. The incident occurred when a section of the drain cover was missing, causing her to fall into the opening.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred at 10:30pm on 3 Nov 2025 near The Oasis on Science Park Drive in Buona Vista.
According to Mothership, the management said that passing vehicles had caused the drain cover to shift.
They added that the area is inspected daily and advised members of the public to use designated sidewalks.
The woman worked at a nearby restaurant for 10 years and walked past the pathway daily on her way to the bus stop, reported Shin Min Daily News.
However, she fell into the drain that day and suffered a cut on her leg. Her wound later became inflamed and filled with pus.

Fortunately, a colleague was walking with her and grabbed her as she fell.
She was in extreme pain that she had to sit on the ground for 10 to 15 minutes before she could stand up again.
The woman’s son witnessed the incident and was terrified. She expressed concern that the situation would have been worse if he had fallen in instead.
As the metal cover on the drain was rusty, the woman went to the hospital for treatment as a precaution.
When Shin Min reporters visited the site recently, they found that the drain covers had already been replaced.
Drain Safety Concerns
A spokesperson for Cintech III Science Park told Shin Min that they were aware of the incident involving a pedestrian injury in the driveway.
The spokesperson said the drain cover had shifted after a vehicle passed over it, creating a small gap.
They added that staff conduct daily checks and realign any covers that may have shifted to ensure safety.
Due to the frequent movement of heavy vehicles within the park, designated pedestrian walkways have been established around the building to ensure the safety of all visitors.
