A 57-year-old woman was injured on Saturday (5 July 2025) after a bottle was thrown at the double-decker bus she was travelling on along Orchard Road. The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. when bus service 190 was moving through the busy shopping district.
A member of the public hurled a bottle at the vehicle, causing significant damage to an upper deck window.

Bus Captain Takes Swift Action After Bottle Attack
The bus captain immediately brought the vehicle to a safe stop after the bottle struck the upper deck window. All passengers were checked for injuries before being transferred to another bus.
SMRT Buses deputy managing director Vincent Gay confirmed that the female passenger in question sustained injuries during the incident. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and police were alerted to the scene, with SCDF responding at 6:45pm and police at 6:50pm.
The injured woman was taken conscious to Raffles Hospital for medical treatment. Police investigations are ongoing.
Damaged Bus Draws Crowd of Onlookers at Orchard Road
Photos posted on social media app Xiaohongshu showed the double-decker bus parked outside The Heeren with extensive damage to its upper deck window.
The left side window displayed a gaping hole surrounded by shattered glass and cracks throughout the pane.
The bus displayed “Out of Service” on its signboards as police officers and staff in vests conducted investigations on board. All passengers had alighted by the time the photos were taken.
Several other social media users documented the scene, with one photo showing curious onlookers gathering around the stationary bus.
SMRT confirmed they are cooperating with police investigations into the incident.
