In the early hours of 13 November 2024, a 26-year-old woman was hospitalized after being struck by a taxi while crossing a pedestrian walkway along Orchard Road.
The accident, which occurred at approximately 3.15am at the junction of Orchard Road and Handy Road, was captured on dashcam and later circulated on social media.

Dashcam footage of the incident, which appears to be first uploaded on Reddit and then re-uploaded to the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page, shows the taxi approaching the intersection with a green light, indicating the driver had right of way.

Despite this, the woman, holding a mobile phone, was seen crossing the road at the same time.
Both the driver and pedestrian seemed unaware of each other’s presence until the last moment, at which point the driver hit the brakes.
However, the collision was unavoidable, and the impact forcefully threw the pedestrian to the ground, where she landed on her head and back, more than a metre from the point of impact.
Following the collision, the visibly stunned woman attempted to sit up and reached toward her phone.
Shortly after, she paused, clutching the back of her head, and collapsed backward.
A passenger from the taxi immediately exited the vehicle to check on her, while an older man, presumably the taxi driver, got out briefly before being signaled to return, possibly to call for emergency assistance.
