38Y/O Woman Arrested for Loanshark Harassment in Admiralty Drive

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has arrested a 38-year-old woman for her alleged involvement in loanshark harassment activities at Admiralty Drive.

The arrest follows a report made to the police about vandalism at a residential unit where the main gate of a residential unit was locked with a bicycle lock pasted with a debtor note.

Officers from the Woodlands Police Division quickly identified the suspect through ground inquiries and footage from police cameras. The woman was apprehended within 24 hours of the report.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect may be connected to several similar loanshark harassment cases across Singapore.

Investigation Details

“Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers established the identity of the woman and arrested her,” the police statement read.

The suspect is expected to be charged in court under the Moneylenders Act 2008 on 26 April 2025.

First-time offenders convicted of loanshark harassment face severe penalties under Singapore law. The offence carries a fine between $5,000 and $50,000, imprisonment of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes.

The Singapore Police Force has emphasised its zero-tolerance stance against loanshark harassment activities.

“Those who deliberately vandalise properties, cause annoyance or disrupt public safety, peace and security, will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law,” the police statement read.
