Ladies, you and I and the rest of the world, are very much aware that being a woman can sometimes be an inconvenience. Especially during that time of the month. You know what I’m talking about.
The feeling of getting your period is synonymous to the dread that comes with opening your inbox and getting smacked on the face by thousands of unwanted and forgotten newsletters.
Nobody asked for it yet we deal with it.

Suspected For Carrying Drugs
A report done by Metro tells the experience of Natalie Simms.
Also known as the woman who filed a lawsuit against a detective who allegedly pulled her tampon after being suspected of carrying drugs… Up there?
Officers Were Investigating The Area For Drug Activity
According to sources, the incident happened in August 2016 in San Antonio, Texas. Natalie was waiting for her boyfriend when two police officers approached.
The officers were said to be investigating the area for drug activity. Knowing that she hadn’t had any drugs on her, Natalie allowed the officers to conduct a search on her car.
An unnamed female detective began a search on Natalie’s pockets. An obstruction on its own considering how they didn’t have an initial warrant that permitted her to do such a thing.
Unsatisfied with the results, she ordered Natalie to spread her legs. The detective continued to question Natalie and accused her of hiding substances in her vagina.
Natalie declined and told the detective that she was, however, on her period. Right then, the detective pulled open her clothes and forcefully pulled on the string attached to her tampon.
But why?

It doesn’t end there. After that, the detective continued to search Natalie. She was even asked to turn around yet again to spread her legs.
Throughout the exchange, Natalie kept asking if she could be taken to a more private location, but the detective ignored her requests and told her, “If you don’t have anything, you don’t have anything to worry about, okay, but these are all the places that everybody hides stuff, so this is where we have to search.”
What did she mean by everybody?
It’s Full of Blood, Right?
After the ordeal, Natalie filed a lawsuit against the detective who she claimed had physically violated her. The detective was sent to court where she was questioned for her absurd behaviour.
When asked what made her do what she did, the detective responded, “I don’t know. It looked like it had stuff in there.”

Natalie was offered a compensation of US$205,000 (~S$279,752). The detective resigned from her position just nine months later.
We get it, pat-downs are sometimes necessary for security reasons. But doing it to such an extent might just be a little… Out of hand.
