Woman Who Died in Tampines Stabbing Incident Was Reportedly Killed By Her Husband

Despite what it seems like in the movies, not all couples will have a healthy relationship.

Some people are simply incompatible and fights will repeatedly crop up, causing a strain in the relationship.

Most of these bad relationships end in tears and heartbreak, but for one couple in Tampines, it ended in death.

Woman Who Died in Tampines Stabbing Incident Was Reportedly Killed By Her Husband

A 42-year-old woman who was found covered in blood with slash wounds on her neck at a Tampines void deck on Wednesday (10 Feb) is believed to have been attacked by her estranged husband.

Ms Iris Ting Su Yin died on the same day, shortly after being taken unconscious to the hospital.

Her husband Ng Chee Kok, 45, also died after being taken to hospital.

The police believe that Ng assaulted his wife, though details of the attack are still unclear.

So, what happened?

Stabbed and Left at Void Deck

The police said they were alerted to the stabbing incident on Wednesday at Block 206 Tampines Street 21 at about 6.30am.

When they arrived on the scene, they found Ms Ting lying motionless at a void deck.

Officers later found Ng, her husband, at Block 205A Punggol Field, where he lived, at about 9.10am.

Couple Had Strained Relationship; Wife Has Moved Out of Home

It is believed that the couple’s relationship soured towards the end, compelling Ms Ting to move out of their matrimonial home in Punggol.

She went to live with her mother in Tampines, near where her body was found.

According to The Straits Times, Ms Ting took out a Personal Protection Order (PPO) against Ng on 6 March last year.

He allegedly breached the PPO just over a month later on 15 April.

Ng was charged with two counts of harassment and released on bail of $10,000, but reportedly continued to harass and stalk Ms Ting in Tampines.

Killed Just a Day Before Reunion Dinner with Teenage Children

It was later discovered that Ms Ting was supposed to have a reunion dinner with her three teenage children – a son and two daughters – the day after her untimely death.

According to ST, Ms Ting was the centre head for the Ministry of Education (MOE) Kindergarten @ Farrer Park.

She took on the role just last year, and has over 20 years of experience in the pre-school sector.

Public Urged to Stop Circulating Photo of Victim

The police urged the public to stop sharing an image of an official document and a photo of Ms Ting, which have been circulating online since Wednesday.

The document, which included the police report number and Ng’s personal details, was not meant for public circulation.

The circulated photo of Ms Ting shows her covered in blood, while another shows Ng at the void deck of a block.

“The Police urge members of the public to refrain from circulating them out of respect for the deceased and the aggrieved families,” they said.

Investigations are ongoing.
