These days, if two people in Singapore have a little quarrel, all 5.5 million residents will end up knowing about it.
Thanks to the internet, aggrieved residents who feel like they were unfairly treated can turn to netizens for some support by sharing a video or details of the incident online.
But they’re forgetting that netizens are a fickle species who will find a way to be divided over every single issue.
Woman ‘Trapped’ Deliveryman in Lift; Netizens Divided Over Who’s Right or Wrong

The video, which shows a woman blocking the entrance to a lift, starts off with the rider explaining what happened:
“I’m about to send a delivery, I have 100 passes today, I have like 80 places to go, and someone is stopping me from doing my duty”.
The rider politely asks the woman, who’s obstructing his exit, to move out of the way, so he can get on with his delivery.
He makes this request twice, but the woman ignores him.
Some time later, a man, who appears to be another delivery rider, comes into frame, and says he intends to take the lift so he can make his delivery.
The woman, however, tells him to wait, saying she has good reason to keep the rider in the lift.
“Eh, this uncle wants to earn money, (you) know?” the rider in the lift said.
The woman tells the deliveryman outside the lift that he has to register before he can make his delivery, adding that she’s a member of the condo’s management team.
She then motions for a security guard and another man to come over, before detailing what happened.
Accused Rider of Entering Without Registering
According to the woman, she had opened the gate to the condo, presumably to go out, when the rider came in without asking for permission or registering.
She also gesticulated to make it seem like he barged past her while entering the condo.
She then accused the rider of being rude, and asked the guard to call the police.
After the three men leave the scene, the woman puts her leg up across the lift entrance, preventing the rider from exiting.
She smirks while doing this.
The video ends without both parties resolving the matter.
Netizens Divided
As you’d expect, netizens were divided over the issue.
Some felt that if the rider had indeed breached the condo’s regulations, that she was right to confront him over the matter.
Most people, however, sympathised with the delivery rider.
Even if the delivery rider did make a mistake, confining him in a lift hardly seems like the best way to resolve the matter.
These riders have a tough enough job, people. Let’s not make it harder for them.
