Truck Driver Crashed Into Motorcyclist & Cars at Woodlands

Driving on the roads, at least on the face of it, would appear to be relatively easy.

All you have to do is stay within the speed limit, keep your eyes on the road, and avoid any distractions.

It sounds simple enough, but we still have thousands of accidents occurring every year, typically due to the negligence of motorists.

In this instance, a motorcyclist was lucky to escape with his life.

Truck Driver Crashed Into Motorcyclist & Cars at Woodlands

A video of a truck slamming into a motorcycle and several stationary vehicles is making the rounds on social media.

According to ROADS.sg, the accident took place on Monday (6 Sep) along Woodlands Road and Sungai Kadut Ave at around 1.48pm.

At the beginning of the video, we see several vehicles slowing down as they’re approaching a junction with a red light.

At the five-second mark, we see a biker drawing close to the end of the junction, with a truck right behind him.

As the motorcyclist slows down and approaches the car recording the incident, it becomes evident that the truck driver is going way too fast.

Before the biker can even come to a stop, the large truck crashes into him, sending him flying as he smashes into the car in front of him.

The truck also slams into the stationary car recording the incident, as well as another truck on its right.

Fortunately, the motorcyclist seems to have come out of the accident unscathed, as he stormed in the direction of the offending truck after getting hit.

Some netizens suspected that the truck driver has an issue with his brakes, while others believe he was simply driving too fast.

More Fatalities in Road Accidents In First Half of 2021

It’s not been a great year so far on the roads, as there have been more people injured or killed in the first half of the year in road accidents.

In total, 3,635 fatalities and injuries were reported from January to June, up 17% from 3,108 in the same period last year.

58 people involved in 52 accidents during this period ended up dying, up from the 51 deaths in 2020.

This trend may be due to the rise in vehicles on the road following the relaxation of more COVID-19 measures, the police said.

After all, few people were driving during the circuit breaker last year.

Now that more motorists are back on the roads, do be cautious when driving. Always keep your eyes on the road, and service your vehicle regularly as well.
