One message about noise from fighter jets flying over Sengkang read: “I can’t believe some champion military a**hole thought that noise pollution for four months is a brilliant way to celebrate NDP.”

Another showed him swearing about a resident he met at a Meet-the-People session (MPS) who obtained his personal number and called him daily, writing: “IMO, these people can f*ck off.”

The leaked messages also contained disparaging remarks about the government, TraceTogether, CNA, and the previous owners of his resale flat for their “cheapo” renovation.

In one message, Low made comments about Grab drivers: “What is the age where if you get retrenched you’re basically f*cked and have to drive Grab?”

Low’s Background and Pathway to Political Candidacy

In a Facebook post published in the early hours of 30 Apr 2025, Low, 33, explained that the leaked messages came from a private chat among his business school classmates.

He noted that many of the messages date back to the Covid-19 pandemic period when they “ranted to each other while cooped up at home.”

In his apology, Low stated that he has “always been opinionated” and holds strong convictions about Singapore and how it “can do so much better.” He added that these same convictions pushed him to step forward as a WP candidate.

Low acknowledged that he is not proud of how he expressed his views and is “deeply sorry” for his language. He emphasized that he has since matured, noting that he is now married and soon to be a father. He has spent five years working with the WP—first serving Rivervale residents and later helping to spread the word about the party’s work.

“These experiences have opened my eyes to the lived realities of Singaporeans and Singapore firms, and I have matured over the process,” he wrote.

He also referenced his earlier statements at a WP rally on 29 Apr 2025 about transparency, accountability, and the power of apologies, saying he needed to hold himself to the same standard.

Low apologized specifically to Jalan Kayu voters and took full responsibility for his past actions. “I understand that as a public figure, my words carry weight and can cause real harm,” he wrote. “This has been a humbling experience, but I hope that I can earn your trust, and demonstrate my sincerity in wanting to serve you.”

Low joined the WP in 2020 and was appointed as secretarial assistant to MP Louis Chua after the party won Sengkang GRC that year. He was tasked with running Meet-the-People Sessions and built a digital MPS solution during the pandemic that “maintained residents’ critical line to their MP,” according to his profile on WP’s website.
