WP Candidate Even Went to Pulau Ubin to Canvass by Cycling Around the Island

The Workers’ Party (WP) has made known their stance on town council management in an interview with the media in an interview with tons of reporters at Sengkang:

No matter whether a resident voted for PAP or WP, they will be well-taken care of.

You’re probably thinking, if that’s true, they’re really inclusive.

Then, this appears on the headlines today:

WP Candidate Even Went to Pulau Ubin to Canvass by Cycling Around the Island

First thing first, in case you missed it, Pulau Ubin is actually part of the East Coast GRC and it only consists of 38 residents, according to MSNews.

A small fraction of the 121,772 voters in East Coast GRC.

Yet that did not stop the WP candidate, Terence Tan from going to the island to meet with the residents anyway on 7 Jul 2020.

He went around the island on a campaign trail…with his bicycle.

And managed to fist-bump with a cute grandma.

On what seems like a pretty hot day.

What made his campaign trail even more interesting is the fact that 7 July is the second-last day of campaigning before Cooling-Off Day and every other party is scrambling to reach as many voters as possible.

Netizens Were Impressed

One pointed out that Pulau Ubin is pretty easy to miss while another said he wouldn’t have believed it if not for the pictures.

Others thanked him for not forgetting about Pulau Ubin residents, who are also Singaporeans:

This isn’t the first time WP visited the island either, and back in 2011, Gerald Giam of the WP and a few friends and supporters went to the island and he penned his thoughts in this post.

And on a side note, candidates have been talking about NCMP (Non-Constituency Member of Parliament) in recent days. So, what’s an NCMP? Do you know that it’s just like an MP but the allowance is much lower? Watch this video to find out more:
