If there’s one thing that’s universal, it’s this: everyone loves cats.
Just look at them wanting your attention.
You’ll give them your soul if you need to.
Now that’ll explain why a lady, who’s now in Wuhan, is refusing to be evacuated from the epicentre of COVID-19, because that would mean leaving her cat alone.
No one can bear to do that.
21-Year-Old Canadian Refused to Leave Wuhan Because of Her Cat
This woman has her priorities right, indeed.
21-year-old Kristina Shramko is a Canadian who’s now in Wuhan, the city that’s now in lockdown.
The cat-woman has a boyfriend in Wuhan, and about eight months ago, she had moved to the city to be with him. Nothing’s wrong with that, except Wuhan has suddenly become well-known throughout the world last month when it became the epicentre of the epic virus, COVID-19.
And in a twisted fate, her boyfriend had left Wuhan before the city went into lockdown, leaving Kristina alone…with her cat.
Just like Singapore, Canada has prepared flights to evacuate their citizens out of Wuhan. Kristina qualified and even registered herself for one of the flights.
But when she realised that the plane could only carry humans and not four-legged creatures, Kristina made the decision to stay back with her cat, Kitya.
On behalf of Kitya, I thank you, Ms Shramko.
Kristina said, “I don’t know when the epidemic will be over so it’s kind of abandoning her in a way, even if I give her to a friend.”
You see, living in Wuhan doesn’t merely mean a constant fear of contracting the virus; the place has become a ghost town.
Sacrifices to be Made for a Cat
Wuhan is now a ghost town, much like a scene from a zombie apocalypse movie.
For a start, no one can enter or leave Wuhan. Transportation has halted service and almost every shop is closed. People were told to stay at home; while some supermarkets are open, the shelves are empty.
It doesn’t help that she doesn’t speak Chinese.
And of course, money is an issue, though money might not matter in the lockdown city anymore. She added, “Nobody is working right now so there is no income…I’m trying to save as much money as possible since we don’t know when all of this will be over.”

She’s getting restless but she’s still hoping that Canada would allow her cat to be brought along on the next flight.
Her reason for her endless love for Kitya?
Other than the fact that Kitya is way too cute, here’s why: “She’s been there for me throughout this whole quarantine…I should be there for her, too.”
