Wuhan Virus Outbreak Has Now Hit More Than 2,000 Infections Worldwide With 56 Deaths

Lest youโ€™re not aware, the entire SARS outbreak infected 8,098 people with 774 fatalities.

Itโ€™s difficult to determine how long the 2003 epidemic took to reach 2,000 people as the exact numbers werenโ€™t disclosed earlier by China.

For the Wuhan virus, itโ€™s confirmed that in less than a month, over 2,000 people have been infected as of 26 January 2020 at 11:00am.

It doesnโ€™t take a genius to predict that moreโ€™s expected, given that since 20 January 2020, the number of infected patients has increased by nearly seven times, and weโ€™re only on the second day of Chinese New Year.

As of today at 11am, the total number of confirmed cases stand at 2,026.

1,995 of them are from China while 31 is from other countries, with 4 from Singapore.

The other countries with confirmed cases are Thailand (7), Hong Kong (5), Macau (5), Australia (4), Malaysia (4), France (3), Japan (3), South Korea (3), Taiwan (3), the US (2), Vietnam (2) and Nepal (1).

So far, there has been 56 deaths and they are all from China.

The President of China, Xi Jinping, said that China is facing a โ€œgrave situationโ€  as China declared health emergencies in several provinces and locked down some cities. Hong Kong has declared a virus emergency and shut down all schools until 17 February 2020.

Singapore Status So Far

As of yesterday (25 January 2020), 10pm, the number of confirmed cases still stands at 4.

Pertaining to the fourth case that was confirmed yesterday night, the seven staff members that had close contact with the infected patient have been isolated, and all the three rooms that the patient and his family had stayed in had been blocked off.
