Xiaomi Unveils 17 Pro Max with Record 7,500mAh Battery and 6.9-Inch Display

Xiaomi has introduced the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max as the headliner of its new 17 series, unveiled on 25 September 2025 in China.

The 17 Pro Max is Xiaomi’s largest, most battery-packed smartphone to date, and the model enters the market alongside Apple’s recently launched iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Features and Specifications

The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max comes with a 6.9-inch 2K AMOLED display, out-sizing both its siblings and recent flagship smartphones.

One of its biggest selling points is its 7,500mAh battery, supported by 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. Xiaomi uses silicon-carbon battery technology here, which allows for larger capacity without adding bulk to the handset.

There’s also a dedicated rear display — a 2.9-inch “Magic Back Screen” for notifications, widgets, or using the rear cameras as a selfie viewfinder.

Powering the device is Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, firmly positioning the model at the top tier for Android performance in 2025. The phone runs on Xiaomi’s Android 16-based HyperOS 3.

The main camera system comprises three Leica-branded 50MP lenses: a main wide, an ultrawide, and a periscope telephoto offering optical zoom capabilities. The front “selfie” camera features a 50MP sensor with autofocus. Protection comes in the form of IP68 dust and water resistance.

Storage and RAM configurations include up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage, using high-speed memory standards for faster performance.

The Xiaomi device offers a much larger battery capacity (7,500mAh versus Apple’s 4,832mAh), a secondary rear display, and greater RAM options up to 16GB. The iPhone 17 Pro Max, meanwhile, uses Apple’s A19 Pro chipset and sports a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with an aluminum unibody design.

Both phones are IP68-rated. Xiaomi supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. Apple provides features like satellite SOS capabilities. Storage options for the Xiaomi max out at 1TB, paired with up to 16GB RAM, while Apple’s top offering reaches the same 1TB capacity but with 12GB RAM.

The announcement arrives alongside launches from Apple and other smartphone manufacturers, marking the latest round in the competitive flagship smartphone market.

Xiaomi’s devices have traditionally been priced lower than Apple and Samsung devices with comparable hardware specifications, continuing this approach with the latest 17 Pro Max.

For international markets, while an official launch date has not been confirmed, previous Xiaomi series were typically released globally within several months after the China debut, with early 2026 expected for the 17 series international launch.
