S’pore Influencer Xinde Allegedly Blackmailed $20K for Cheating on His Wife; Owned Up to Mistake Online

It appears that Singapore’s influencers are not catching a break.

Lest you’re unaware, several notable public figures have faced flak over the last couple of years – for acts that are not exactly compatible with a children’s book.

Cases in point? Eden Ang, Dee Kosh & more we shall not name.

Once stars with a budding future, they’ve seen their careers plummet to an all-time low in the wake of controversies… and consequently the cold-pressed reality of society’s wrath.

It was a tough reminder; that fame does not come easily.

It came with its own set of unspoken rules and conditions, and if unfulfilled in any way, would desert you as fast as you procured it in the first place.

And yet, it seems that some have yet to grasp the reality of it all.

And now, another influencer has landed in hot water for it.

Though if there’s any respite, it’s that it may not be the end of his career yet.

Sometime on 13 December 2020, Singaporean influencer xindeyap, who has almost 70k followers on Instagram, shocked fans when he made a daring revelation through the Instagram Stories function:

He had cheated on his wife, and had uploaded the post to “own up” to his mistakes.

In the lengthy entry, the influencer, who was one of Dee Kosh’s talents, confessed to cheating on his wife, whom he wedded early this year.

Despite wishing to keep the matter confidential and within his family circle, he stated that he had no choice but to publicise the affair – apparently, someone knew about it and wanted to extort 20K from them to keep mum about it.

In other words, it was blackmail, with the influencer’s public figure status being used as leverage against him.

At this point, the boss of Chug Chug (a bar/restaurant) admitted that he was afraid at the start, as it was not something that he could be proud of. However, he ultimately decided to overcome this particular form of blackmail, and to own up to his mistakes instead of running away from it.

He added that his wife has since chosen to stand by him through these tumultuous times – a love that he felt he did not deserve at all.

To end off, he promised to become a better person, and requested for his followers to give him time and space to rectify the situation.

“I will work on being a better person, a better father and a better husband,” he wrote. “I don’t deserve my wife and I vow to work doubly hard to protect our family.

“I request that you give me, my wife, and my family the privacy we need to fix what has been broken. Thank you.”

Confirmation

Subsequently, the influencer’s wife also followed up with her own Instagram update – two Stories that not only served to confirm Xinde’s confession, but also provided further clarification on the matter.

According to her, she was first informed about the adultery by the third party’s boyfriend – a notion which filled her with anger and utmost disappointment.

Expressing her sadness that Xinde had “taken the easy way out” when the going got tough, she lamented how she had tried to work on their marriage, only to see her husband succumb to “momentary temptation”.

It was a moment that left her “heartbroken”.

However, she also fired a warning at the supposed third party – who had purportedly initiated the physical cheating despite knowing Xinde’s marital status.

“I am disappointed in her shameless advancement leading to their behaviour.”

Apparently, the third party even sent her explicit details of the affair, including screenshots and other intimate details.

It was a notion that caused her “stress” and “anxiety”.

She also stated that monetary terms were implied, in order for the affair to stay out of the public eye.

It was something she refused to tolerate… at all.

“Our marriage is our own and I will not allow others to have power over my family,” she wrote.

She stated that Xinde has since regretted his actions, and professed that she will be strong and stay with him, for the sake of her newborn baby and their family.

She will also work hard to make sure that their family is not threatened into submission, no matter how hard the journey gets.

Proposal

In November last year, it was announced that Xinde will be getting married to his fiancee – who was pregnant at the time.

In January this year, the couple held their long-awaited wedding ceremony, an event which was documented in a wedding montage.
