Yip Pin Xiu has done it again. Surpassing all expectations of Singaporeans.
We won’t expect multiple and extensive media coverages, standing ovations or anything over the top like before.
But her achievements are still worth talking about.
The First Singaporean to Win Multiple Gold Medals
This morning, Ms Yip Pin Xu had her name inscribed into the record books (possibly both the world’s and Singapore’s).
She was the first Singaporean to win multiple gold medals at the Paralympic Games when she clinched a second gold for the nation.
Almost Broke a Second World Record
In the women’s S2 50m backstroke, Yip clocked a timing of 1:00:33s, which is half a second off the world record of 59:32s that was set six days ago en route to winning the S2 100m final.
A Total of 3 Medals for Singapore
Together with her fellow swimmer, Theresa Goh, the Paralympic team hauled back a total of 3 medals for Singapore.
And not only that.
Both Yip Pin Xiu and Theresa Goh has their very own Lego figurines. Nice.
