A neighbourly dispute at Block 334B Yishun Street 31 on 19 Jul 2025 left one man dead and another hospitalised.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received calls for assistance at approximately 5:20pm.
Police officers discovered a 53-year-old man injured in his residential unit. A 44-year-old man was found lying motionless at the foot of the block.
The 44-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic. The 53-year-old was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in a conscious state.
Knife Attack Following Corridor Dispute Between Yishun Neighbours
Preliminary investigations revealed both men were neighbours residing in the same block. They had been involved in a prior dispute along the corridor.
The 44-year-old man allegedly injured the 53-year-old man with a knife following their disagreement. Police do not suspect foul play based on initial findings.
A female resident living on the fourth floor told Lianhe Zaobao she heard a loud sound on Saturday afternoon. When she looked out of her flat, she saw a man with abdominal injuries who was later sent to the hospital via ambulance.
A 28-year-old foreign domestic helper passed by the scene approximately ten minutes after the incident. She witnessed shocked residents and police officers conducting investigations.
Police Cordon Off Area as Relatives Arrive at Yishun Block
By 6:50pm, police had cordoned off part of the void deck. A blue tent was erected on a grass patch next to the block.
Three female relatives of the deceased arrived at the scene later. They appeared sombre while assisting police with investigations.
One relative broke down in tears and asked to check the body. Residents taking their children to the playground in the evening could be seen discussing the incident and gathering to observe the officers.
The investigating officers wore personal protective equipment and used flashlights to examine the body.
Police investigations are ongoing.
